I have seen mains cable used - and I think it was routed underneath.

This one isn't

Like I said... It would probably do the job but not ideal... Most mains cable is single strand, not multi-strand ;)

Nothing wrong with routing the cable externally though ;)

In fact... How did the cable get to be routed internally without leaving something unvented from the box?

It was stranded the cross section and colours gave it away.

Presumably it feeds externally near boot, then up vent hose to get back in?

Small well sealed hole in one of the vent hoses. Gromet and silicon sealer

I wouldn't expect that to get through the COP 11 inspection myself, and wouldn't be happy if it was done on my car ;)

Actually I was wrong - I fed it out at the bottom near the plastic plate and sealed it - I did nearly 5 years ago so was not sure what I did.

Then under carpet, rear seat into cill runs

Might be... I just saw it in the top of my tool box and grabbed it without checking ::) As long as it's stranded I don't see any harm TBH ;)

Shouldn't pass an inspection then as the gas tight box isn't vented cleanly to the atmosphere ;)

It is vented OK - but then you could comment on the fact that the vent pipes are quite near the boot vent.

It did pass Cop 11

And it is pretty well sealed - no worse by having a cable there

Indeed... I find a lot of the COP stuff as ridiculous as the MOT TBH ::)
