We buy any car.com
« on: 12 March 2011, 12:46:52 »

Has anyone used this mob?  I'm guessing their offers are extremly low, but just wondering if anyone here has used them?

My mate has moved to Singapore and wants to sell his Audi TT quickly and easily...  :-/

Cheers  :)

They offer f**k all and the offer gets smaller and smaller on older cars.

If it's quick and convenient you want, go for it (but you'll get bugger all).
If it's to realise the value of said vehicle, sell privately.

If it's a late plater TT should be ok - try 'em and see!

I often have to meet someone next to their valuation area in Lincoln.  As I'm parked up I can usually earwig what is being said by opening a window slightly.  ::)

It's always the same patter, with many reasons why the value can't be as much as expected.

Interestingly, only a few people reject them out of hand - accepting there and then, coming back as I then see that car there a few days later.

I guess they make their money off the back of people who are selling as they HAVE to for some reason or other and then move them to auction.

They really get through them at a rate of knots though - about 20 mins seems to be the going rate.

Ha ha like it :y  Judging by the amount of TV advertising they do I always thought they'd offer peanuts and they must be coining it in  ::)

Just thought I'd ask here in case anyone recommended them.. :-/

A mate of mine who sold them a BMW 3-series that had a knackered steptronic gearbox. Car was worth £1500 if all was well, but about £400 as it was. Recon steptronic gearbox fitted, was gonna cost him about a £grand.
We buy any car offered him £700.
You do the sums......... :y

Not all of their buyers are "mechanics".
The guy that looked at his and took it for a (very short) test drive, told him he was an ex-car salesman!
He was that busy that day, the test drive was basically " around the block". ::) :y
SO, MORAL OF THE STORY IS....
if you have a problem that only shows up once car is fully "warmed up", you can maybe do them for a decent price, as there is no comeback from them once the deal is done.

they quote you a price then when you take the car in they find fault so reduce the price, also watch out as there is a paper work fee.

as previously said, its Carcraft!

they buy cheap and then do a 300% markup on selling prices

they also falsly advertise where they think they can get away with it from what i hear

a friend was looking to sell a streetka and saw one carcraft had for sale, advertised as a "lux winter" model but had no lux extras and no hardtop hood! it was 3 years old and the asking price was higher than the brand new selling price

Be better off advertising it privately for a good price to both parties. valued a few cars on there before and it was a waste of my time.

True, but for an £25 fee, you can have the cash in your bank account the next day. 8-)
As said, it is correct to say they pay well under the going rate, BUT, if you have a lemon you would not want to sell private, then selling to these chancers is no bad thing. The people who buy the cars later on at auction are not really expecting a car with no problems. :y
Its one over the big boys, I say. :y
