20th September 2005 it has a tick by the toothed belt on the service book. It has a few services with stamps after until I bought the car now my relation looks after it.

If that is true it is 18 months overdue ... would have been due in September 2009 ....

The question you have to ask is .. are you willing to risk the £300 (ish) for a new belt fitted  against the cost of new heads etc if the belt goes ???

Personally I'd be giving Elite Pete or Daz (Darth Loo Knee) a PM very quickly ... or, if you are good with spanners .. buy the forum DVD on how to change if and DIY .. :)

Either way .. IMHO it needs needed doing some while back !!

Is that when it was last done then? If so it needs doing ............ sooner rather than later.  ;)

Its not just the belt that needs changing,

My water pumpt at 55K, sheared the shaft, belt came off, and ..... you can guess the rest.  :'(

you need to change the kit ie the tensioner & eccentric rollers.

It's not the belt that fails usually .. it's the bearings in the tensioners/rollers .. but still has a disastrous effect ..

Daz .. Dart loo Knee ... who started this thread does the job (but you are forced to listen to weird music) .. as does Elite Pete ..

he started this thread

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1301483616

you can contact either by clicking the PM button by their signatures ..
