....... and anyway... That's an even bigger bodge! :o :o :o

How's it a bodge?  :-? I'd have thought that if it was good enough for Mercedes ......  ;) ;)
Better than dangling in water inside the pollen filter housing where some have been fitted.  ;)

My brother used to do a lot of remedial design work for Mercedes...  ...he didn't have a good word to say about their designers....

Because it's a large solid object that will obstruct air flow ::) ::) Mercedes may have designed it that way, but it's not ideal  ;) ;) Plus, you'd have to cut a rather great hole to get the loom through ::) ::)

Oh... And as for the Pollon Filter area... I agree... That's a bodge too, hence why I suggest mounting it where I do ;) ;)

I doubt he'd have a good word for the Smart's build quality either. eg  the wires to the bulb holders for the rear lights are little more twisted onto the loom, and the bulb holders at the front are prone to melting. As for leaks into the car ....  :-? :-? :-? :-?
Fantastic to drive through the twisty lanes though!  :y :y :y :y

mine works well bolted to wheel arch lining, but unlike those pesky V6's the arch does not have the vents.

I inspected it few weeks ago, looked like new!

I have a good examplee or two of where not to put it ....!

how about stuch to the wheel arch-liner (inner surface against the wheel) with no-more-nails

or how about in the air cleaner.

What's wrong with the fuse box where the ECUs are supposed to live ?

I just can't see how to get it in there TBH... It's not as small as the one pictured above...

Istr Jamesv6 fitted one in the engine fusebox a year or so ago.
Would be a very tight fit though.  :-/

DBW ECUs are smaller than older ones, but still wouldn't go.

personally, I'd make a bracket and mount where I have.  I think the tunnie/GayBoyGixer method if screwing to the liner is a bit of corner cutting....

Yeah but thats bit too far for the loom. O/S is where mine is mounted, as it has no vents, its a perfect place for it.

No way I'll it fit in the ecu fuse box, with the plug attached I'd guess it's about 6" square and may 1.5" deep. The plug being roughly 1/3 of that area, which either it or the 1" thick loom has to be fed through somewhere.

I fitted to the wheel arch liner last time, but the plug was at the top. I was aware of the issue tbh. Would be nice to get the wires through the back of the plenum. And just lift the lot out and place to one side if needing to remove manifold for oil cooler work etc.

I'll look at it further. But probably revert to wheel arch area as TB's... But mine will be better of course. 8-).  ;D
