Sorry but the FWD bit puts me right off.

Like wise, but life is such that FWD is here to stay & won't go away.  ;) ;) it's certainly very forgiving.

Nice looking motor, do they still use the 5 cylinder Volvo engine?

If I had 20-25k to spend on a car I think it would have 8 cylinders and be rwd.

Yep still using the 2.5 volvo engine....

Yeah true and i think Ford have got it just right with this front wheel drive system as there is very little torque steer and the grip is excellent.

I had a drive in a ST-3 a while ago and this was a different beast  :y

.... I would definitely have one if I had the money  :)

I'm not exactly sure which go-faster-Focus I went into combat against last year, but I think he must've wondered WTF as the ageing lard arse Omega was still in his rear view mirror at silly mph one Sunday evening.

(of course he was leaving me behind ........ but only just  ;) ;) ;) ;). Fortunately for both of us Mr Plod wasn't around cos there was no excuse for our speed  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[)

To be honest Andy my 3.2 is no slouch even with it being auto

I love the Omega still and drive it everyday as the focus is more of an investment.... look at the Ford Sierra RS500 they are changing hands now for £40,000.

The omega is still a very fast and comfy car although a little floaty round the bends  ;D but that will be sorted shortly with uprated springs and shocks, but on a whole i would not part with it period 8-)

Most likely an ST170 or the ST-3 (200bhp) if you were 'just' keeping up with it!

The mechanic who does my cars has the ST-3 in Orange, a quick trip to Mountune for a re-map and its putting out the same BHP as the standard RS, even in standard form it gave my V6 Signum - which is considerably lighter than an Omega - a proper pasting

Seriously quick car but not fun in the wet!!

Do like the RS however i have heard they do tend to rip the manifold out of the block fairly often!  :)

i never buy ford yuk

they don't make much now that I'd want to buy, but they've been at the fore front of bringing technology to the masses over the years ...anti-slam doors, ABS as standard in a mass produced car ie Granada Scorpio

Not to mention heated front screens(in the Escort!); something every car should have. Granada/Scorpio is a damn good car even with the rather poor 12v engines and chocolate autobox.

Becming more standard now... but if memory serves, ford held the patent on that one up until recently so nobody could use it
