Mits Carisma problem

Has anyone owned mitsubishi carisma? A friend of mine has some problems with it (1.6 1998) . I will explain problem if someone wants to give a try on it

Ok, when you press the gas pedal rapidly, car starts to slow down, like something chokes it. When increasing speed slowly it's fine. Not good if you want to overtake. No power when you want it fast. Could be related with MAF sensor - my opinion

Try unplugging the MAF then. This will cause the fuelling to revert to a default setting ;)

I assume that all the obvious has been done? Full and thorough service including plugs (and leads if it has any)?

Will try it as soon as I see this friend, we work together but live 150 km away. Could be some blockage around MAF too
