This error - 0304 - only happened since I did the cam cover gaskets. It was at this point I put on a replacement (2nd hand) coil pack, as the old one had been soaked in oil, and was breaking up.

Misfire codes previous to this, I'm sure, were due around trim issues due to LPG.

I swapped the plugs over between 2 and 4 last time I took it apart, and the fault has stayed with No4.

Its present on gas and petrol. It seems to be worse in warm weather, but I suspect thats coincidental, given the air temps v engine temps.

My theory is:
Coil Pack (likely)
LPG loom

I'm tempted to try another coilpack to see how it goes....

I should say, when it doesn't misbehave, its great on LPG, with no lag or other issues.  So once this misfire is cured, the next step is persuading the bloody thing to do corners.

I'm not entirely sure it can be done, but could you swap over the 135/246 coilpacks temporarily to see if the miss moves bank? :-/ :-/

Failing that I think you may have to bite the bullet and get a new one :o ::)

I think the LPG Loom is less likely as nothing appears out of place when running, unless one of your joints is dodgy? :P ::) ;D

Can't swap between sides.

Might try to get the original CP back in, though a couple of months out of the car has caused it to disintegrate further...

The joints are properly soldered and heatshrunk. Unless that has caused the wire at the end of the solder to go brittle, and only held by the heatshrink, its 10,000 times more likely to be the plugs somewhere (so at ECU - anything else would only affect petrol or LPG, not both).

I agree... I still don't think it's the loom though... Everything seemed spot on and nothing untoward was showing up on the AC software when it first started ;)

Mind you... Yours was hunting quite a lot on LPG, which mine doesn't do :-/ Having said that, it hunts more on petrol than mine does too :-?

Reckon it's coil pack(s) personally :y :y

Re-fit the old coil pack and use the boots off the newer second hand one.

While this is no real logic as it could be faulty anyway regardless.

the cp currently in TBE is off Albs breaker 3.2. Which had done 80k iirc?
It is in better nic than the one in my car currently on 67k, better than the one on my old car at 105k, and far better than the one on my silver irmscher elite with 137k. None have issues.

I can't help think the problem lies elsewhere seeing as Albs coil PAC appears to have had no effect. As I understand it? Has it? :-/

Breaker was on 133k Chris. ;) Ive mentioned it before but, if the coil pack from the breaker turns out to be a dud, let me know and I will refund you, or TB - not sure who owns it now. :y

Right, in that case we better swap with a known good one.

Can stick mine in it to eliminate or prove....?

Was thinking the same, although it's more likely to be yours as it's not going to the Lakes ;)

Well, I was half right ::)

I refitted the original, but didn't swap the boots, so its running the boots that have been long term soaked in hot oil.  The CP istelf is in a real mess as well.

Took it for a 25 mile hiding.  The engine didn't miss a beat.  But now I've breaked the rather brakes. FFS.

Its never ending  :'(
