'New' car?
« on: 13 July 2007, 08:05:38 »

I've been toying with a change of car, & although I've said I won't have another Omega I can't afford the best part of £30k to buy & then run a V8 Chrysler 300C  ;D.
I was thinking of this

Am I right in thinking that they they only come with 3 pedals  :(

I'm also a HUGE fan of the 300c and was dangerously considering one, but the running costs cant be at all cheap!

I'd not really got as far as the running costs. It was mainly the 'buying-it-in-the-first-place' costs!!  ;D  ;D
They'll never be as thick on the ground as an Omega and so I don't think they'll ever loose value like an Omega has done either.

second hand prices starting at sub £19,000 for a 54 plate is pretty good, people may disagree here but personally I think it has the looks of a £50,000+ car..

I like my big beefy looking cars

It depends which grille you have on. The 'Bentley' grille makes it look like a £100K+ car.  :y
If I sell my Omega that still leaves me short .... by a lot!  :'(

i have been doing a lot of thnking about the whole replacment car scenario......

Currently a 300C will set you back 30K for a Diesel, these are far more popular than the petrol models.

I borrowed one for a weekend, i was getting 35 mpg and wasn't giving the thing an easy time of it....

I have looked at secondhand prices, on the dealers forecourt they are still in the mid 20's for a year old model, hand out for another 2/3 years and they will be mid teens for a fully loaded diesel.

The petrol engines ones will plummet in value and will contiune to do so whilst petrol is as dear as it is.....mind you will it ever get cheaper? An LPG conversion would help it but i still believe that it wont stop the depreciation too much.

Personally i am going to get myself another miggy, hang out for another year and see what the prices are like then, the other consideration is road tax, the 300c is the highest banding (currently £300)

I would love one now, they have massive presence, are so well put together, offer real value for money and currently dont seem to have much being said about then in a negative way

I had a 300c. It was a stonking great car to drive. Superbly luxurious, very quick, super slivk engine and was 100% reliable.

Here is a pic of one like mine:

Yes, it was a few years ago, but what a great car. Second only to the Toyota Crown super saloon.

I called in Hatfields for a broucher. ;) (I'll keep saving  :-/) Can someone explain how Chrysler Benz owns Bentley?  :-? I thought that when Rolls Royce & Bentley were one  the same thing they were sold off & BMW bought RR (but not the name  :-?) and VW bought Bentley. So where does Crysler Benz figure in the equation?  :-?  :-?  :-?

That's what the bloke in Hatfields said when I asked him how Chrysler got away with fitting a Bentley style grille to their cars!
