if the car has been damaged cat c, then repaired and is roadworthy and passed an mot, is there anywhere i can find out the damage that caused it to be a cat c? ideally i would like to print off this information.
any ideas guys?

A category C vehicle must have passed a VIC check, this is another requirement.
Best thing to do is to phone the MIB (Motor Insurers Bureau) and they may well tell you the insurer at the time, you then contact them and ask. I have had to do it in the past and worked fine

does the car have to pass an mot as well as the vosa check or do the mot station not have to be informed and it would just be taken along when it was due an mot?
basically whats happening is someone i know has a cat c damaged car that is mot'd and roadworthy and they have been driving it fine since march,but it is time to sell.
there is someone interested in the car but are being put off by the cat c thing and are requesting a pass certificate, the seller doesnt have it.
would the vosa test station be able to issue a copy of the certificate?, the car was declared cat c in 2010.

I have not long bought a cat c 7 series, it was mot'd in Nov and written off 2 weeks later. VOSA reccomend it is re-mot'd but can't force you to have it done. You should be able to get a duplicate mot easy enough but the buyer will not get a log book until the VIC check has been passed so it can't be taxed either.

I have bought two cat c cars now and put them back on the road it must have a vosa check before it goes on the road you can drive it to the vosa station but it must have a current mot,
if you log onto dvla website and do a vehicle check it will tell you that the vehicle must be inspected,As far as trying to find out the damage the best way it to contact the previous owner and ask them, After it has had a vosa check they will send you a new v5 no charge and on the v5 it will say that the vehicle has had substantial damage and was inspected and passed fit for the road, Hope it helps by the way the last cat c i bought an 04 megane only needed a windscreen door mirrors and door glass you can get a bargain if you look,
Forgot to say as soon as it has had a vosa check you can tax it you don't need a log book vosa will give you a form to take to the local tax office, if the car is a cat d you can't tax it without a log book.
