Poor Vauxhall Dealership yet again
« on: 15 August 2011, 19:04:40 »

Had my 2010 '10' (Yes just a year old) Astra Van into my local dealer 2 times in the last month for a sticking calliper, first time I'm told it's tracking, second time I'm told it's tracking again, I then kicked up and said it's not so you sort the calliper, they say ok, if we take the calliper apart we'll charge you, the van is still under warranty until 2013 so that's a no go, I then said how do you know it's the tracking, to my amazment the qualified mechanic (Sorry technician) said to me "Well we don't know, but it's just what we assume to be the problem". So they wouldn't sort the calliper, or investigate my smoking on start up issue.

Anyway I take it to a different dealer this morning (FG Barnes), drop it off, about 20 miles away, go home, get a call expecting the same scenario, but I get "Hello Mr.B****, we've replaced you're passenger side calliper under warranty, although there is still a braking imbalance somewhere, so we're going to source this problem and rectify it, and we'll check first thing in the morning for your smoking issue as the van is still warm at the minute, is that ok or do you need your vehicle for this evening" Now that is what I call good service!

Everyone just a quick note, avoid Caffyns like the plauge if you can!

Parts they can do, good customer service in every other depmartment, they can't, the brake on my van apparently were steaming due to the tracking being out, that was also why it wouldn't roll back on a hill  ;D

del avoid F.G Barnes of maidstone we used to use them when i worked for company who had fleet of astras..stories i could tell..brake pads being replaced without removing hub caps (try it bloody impossible)...turbos falling off 100 yards from the work shop after they had put it back on because it had fallen off originally...and the best is my car after a service leaving the workshop with 2 wheelnuts holding on a single wheel...in fact i am possibly still banned after kicking off about the wheel incident...mind you they may have got better because they frankly couldn't get any worse :y

Well more news, both front discs & pads replaced free of charge as the caliper was at fault, also they've checked out my vans' smoking issue on start up, found out that it could be a dodgy injector, so that's getting investigated tomorrow, I couldn't have found a more helpful dealership to be honest. When I collect i'll be asking them how much for a service on the van too, will defiantly stick with this garage  :y :y
