Conti sc3 on mine in 245 40 18. Fantastic tyre IMO.

Grip, stable, grip, good turn in, grip...Good wet weather grip too.

Bit noisy maybe but anything else will be after Falkens.

 But I am a bit annoyed with myself for not keeping a record of the mileage. They where on my previous car for a period and no idea how many miles they did on that.

Anyone had experience with these tyres? What mileage did you get from them and was that better or worse than other tyres you've had...?

Chris, mileage tends to be a function of the daily/mostly used path (road quality) ,average temperature and driver habits..

 when going to Fethiye,

there was a road work for 60 kms with very sharp gravels...within that distance my tires loose more than their 6 moths of life

Also I have witnessed that in hotter countries tires tend to live shorter, where as more rainy countries like UK will give longer life chance for tires..

another factor is that obviously , drivers who like to accelerate and slow more frequently , likes sideways will finish them quickly..

and who uses summer tires in winter with extra load for grip will also shorten their lifes

and no need to mention drivers without any pressure controlling habits..

so imo there wont be any healthy measure about their mileage.. :-/

I had a set of SC3s and didn't rate the wear performance at all.

Again, can't remember mileages but SP sport Maxx were grippier but noisier and wore about the same or slightly better. The KU31s I currently have offer about the same level of grip and noise but are wearing much better.

I'm guessing the SC3s lasted about a year (16-18k). At the price they are it wasn't a game I was willing to play again.

Probably about 1.60001mm.

 

thats still relatively economical imo, most tires when I discard them (because they loose %60-70-say most of it-  of the initial grip)  still had 4-5 mm of thread depth but their surface is hardened and lost the brakes :-/

My SAAB 2.8 literally killed a set in 6800 miles, they were below the limit too, there again that did have 275 BHP going through the front wheels, they were even grippy with that amount of tread though.

Rear end never would let go in that  Handled very well for a WWD motor with that amount of power  I agree though bit of a pussy not doing the rears too

I had SC3's on the MV6 for a while, replacing a set of SC2's.  I preferred the SC2's to SC3's due to, IMHO, better grip. Think I got about 12k from them, but was probably 3 or 4 years ago - certainly had the SC3's on, and at end of their life at one of the Burns Farm Lakes meets.

Went back to my old favourite SP9000's after the SC3's, due to better grip. I tended to get 15k from SP9000's before the tramlining became too much at around 3mm.

MV6 currently on Sport Maxx, a tyre I really like. Fantastic grip, brilliant precision, nice feedback in the corners and under braking. Sadly, durability doesn't look to be great, I reckon I'm on for a sub 10k 


What would I buy tomorrow?  If I was rich, I wouln't own an Omega it would be the Sport Maxx.  Back to reality, I'd like to have a gamble on KU31s, based on them on the Rover, and the fact Kevin Wood is haapy, and he's not afraid to sling it into roundabouts without wearing out valuable brake pads

Must have been right at the end of their life, as I remember sending Marks DTM Calib off in a test drive (as I wasn't happy with low end pickup after head swap), and it had SC2's on rear and SC3's at front (because I was mixing/matching the wheels/tyres piled up in garage), and I forgot to mention that caused pretty bad understeer

Oddly enough, that was the first thing he mentioned when he got back from a blast to Keswick and back

If you can find any ..   Rare as rocking horse poo   All suppliers I've tried say they are superceded by KU39's ... and noone sems to have fitted these to report how they behave on an Omega
