I am also not impressed with a scrap yard near by the North Circular in NE London. I originally went to get a head to replace my origianal qhich was damaged after overheating.  It was not ready as not all the work was done, however I gave them £50 deposit and my telephone number to contact me once work was done.  I did not receive a call after some time.  JI contacted them to cancel after deciding to get my own head sorted bhut informed them i would need a radiator and fan to replace ones on the car a nd said I still had receipt for head and if I can use it which I was told I could if I still had it.

When it came time for me to get rad and fan, although quite some time later I was told by owner they were not going to accept it because of time lapse and when I tried to explain, I was not beleived and all sorts of reasons were given why they will not accept it :(.  When i countered with points of my own he insinuated he would throw me out and also became abusive demanded I buy the head he said he still had and decided to call the police. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Needless to say I really felt like bringing a such a s*** storm to his door whereby he will never do that to anyone again as it transpired other customers have experienced the same thing from him. >:( >:( >:( >:(

The things people would do to customers who could also recommend them.

What's the name of the company?

If you paid by credit card you can do a charge back. You need to phone your credit card company to do this.

I didn't order it through breakeryard tho lol

After getting 60% of the sticky stuff of using Autoglym Glass Polish I found 1 light has 2 cracks in it that was covered up by the tape and found paint damage where it looks like someone took a bit of sandpaper to where it appears that some sort of sticker was.

This boot lid is proving to be extremely hard work. But it will end up being a FREEBIE. After my mate does a charge back through his credit card company. So it is going to Johnsons Vauxhall Spares at a loss and me at a gain as the lid will be brought back up to scratch.

I will add photo's of the hard work I have done to get the lid cleaned up. Will Definitely have it finished tomorrow.

Another one to add to the list and avoid lol.  Thanks for making everyone aware.  I will upload a copy of the Chargeback law information as it turns out I didn't realize it doesn't only cover credit cards but it also covers debit cards for purchases upto 120 days after you have the product in your hand!

I finished cleaning the bootlid up! I am rather proud of myself too lol And have also included more pictures of damage I found aswell.

Luckily some of the paintwork damage on the edge of the boot where the MV6 spoiler goes will be covered up as I have got an MV6 Spoiler in the right colour due any day. Bought through Ebay not a dismantler so hopefully no issues with it lol

Wow. I would've been beyond angry with that shit, you did a hell of a job getting rid of all that left over adhesive. Good luck hopefully things turn around for you with all the bad luck you've been having.

Hmmm, if trying to persue under the CCA,

a) I think it only covers new goods.
b) I would have left the item as-is, as there might be a requirement to send an inspector out.

Most CC company helpdesks don't really understand chargebacks, so don't assume because the helpdesk has suggested that, that it will happen. They jut raise the case, and another (faceless, uncontactable) department will take over.

The CCA fits in well with SoGA, in that the goods need to be reasonably fit for purpose, and reasonably as described.  You need, as a minimum, written proof that the item was described as perfect and unblemished, as its not unreasonable to assume a 10yr old, 2nd hand car part might  have degraded finish.

The CCA only covers goods/services bought with credit. There are other (generally lesser) protections in place for other scenarios.

Chargeback is an option that all Debit and Credit Card companies have the choice of opting into and covers all purchases made by credit or debit card, weather the item is new or used. But they will only use this option if you have tried to resolve the problem ammicably for items under £100.

This is not law. But what you are describing is Credit Consumer Act section 75 which is not chargeback but for purchases over £100 makes your Debit or Credit Card provider fully liable for both new and used products which is the law side.

I am having to use chargeback which the credit card company used for this transaction openly offers.

I don't know if they will send an inspector out or not but I have taken plenty of photo's and if needed can prove that the bootlid I bought isn't one off my car due to the different damage being one big long dent that I have a photo of that I took the day I got the car lol. And I have kept all emails sent and received showing I tried to resolve the issue.
