2nd hand windscreens

Do people not buy second hand windscreens anymore? Trying to sell one on ebay. Only done 500 miles, yet repeated attempts has yeilded nothing.

I guess its just they get replaced by insurance companies now?

Most ins. companies got a £75 excess. Pay that and in exchange you get a shiny new screen all fitted. Not a big market for S/H ones however new they are

Bummer. I was only 3rd party insured so i had to pay for it to be replaced in full. Then the clutch went so i scrapped the car but kept the screen hoping i could get some money back Seems not!

Problem is that they need to be removed and installed by someone who has the correct tools for the job and knows how to use them, which in all probability is a windscreen fitter.
I had a nearly new one put in my car a couple of weeks ago.
Luckily the OOFer who supplied it is an ex winscreen fitter who still has a good mate in the trade who was up for a cash job on his way home from work. :)

Yeah, i got mine out in about 5 mins with some cheap utility knives i got off ebay. Was suprisingly light to lift off. Might struggle to place it back on properly without the rubber suckers. Fitting them isnt hard though. Done it before. Really helps to have an electric screw type adhesive gun tho.

If it is just a standard piece of glass, not much point as already said. If it were heated/reflective etc... you might get a little for it, but not much... enough for a few pints mind  :P

I bought a second hand screen for my wife's Rover 400 a few months ago (off ebay) as the original had a crack and she was only third party.

I invested in some decent removal and handling gear to cut it out and then I fitted it using "professional" (expensive) adhesive.

Not a cheap exercise but at least I now have the equipment for future use.

Hardest part was removing the windscreen trims without breaking the plastic clips!!
