does LPG fitting affect your insurance premiums?
« on: 08 September 2011, 21:57:42 »

question for all those with LPG kits really; does having one fitted to the car increase your insurance premiums? isn't there a certificate of authenticity or something required from the installer? which begs the question about what do you do if you install it yourself?!  :o

My MV6 didn't increase, my Elite increased by about £6 IIRC.

Both cars DIY installed, both correctly certified and on the UKLPG register.

Basicly it all depends on your insurance company.
Some will try and stick the price up. ( especially if your in the middle of a insurance year )
Some will demand a ticket.
Some will ask if it has been professionally installed ( say yes like me   ;))

Best to ring them and say you are thinking of fitting it.
That way, they won't be too tempted to have your pants down because your in the middle of a insurance year  ;)

Ive managed to establish that mine isnt on the register, but I cant find out how to put it on there. :-/

You need to get it inspected but if they are anything like round here, you have no chance  >:(
All you get round here is ................. if we didn't fit it, were not interested  >:( >:(

I have the installation certificate, so I wouldnt have thought it would need another inspection ? :-/

Ahh, I see  ::) :)

Who actually runs the register ?

It may be a case of sending them a copy of the ticket  :y

I know they don't give out certificates anymore.
Apparently, the registered installer registers the installation "online" nowdays iirc

I wanted to get mine checked and listed but no tinker round here will do it  >:(

Is it worth having a word with Teilo (if he answers the phone  ;D ;D ;D)

But .. if you have a valid certificate that the installer has not registered YOU can apply to have the car registered

Go to this link, enter your registration number .. f it comes up as "unregistered" the pop-up box will tell you what to do .. :)
