Gave it a wash and wax and a polish, then took the scuttle panel off ready for the auto glass man to put a new front screen in for me  :y

Drove to Wales and back, 450 miles round trip, 32mpg trip consumption.

Got some nice roads in south Wales actually.

Did this yesterday, fitted the replacement rear bumper that I acquired before Christmas. Not a difficult job, but I made it difficult for myself by insisting that I made a much neater job of wiring the parking sensors while it was off. I need to go Hidsons tomorrow to order some clips to refit the trim piece.

Fitted an ............ LED centre brake light!!! Marvel at the technology!!! Yes, PFL cars didn't have them, only MFL on. She had one retrofitted a while back, which was removed and sold ( >:() so the wiring was still there behind the C pillar trim. I'll get someone handy with a soldering iron to remove the scabby chocolate boxes and bits of what looks like 240v wire and replace with 'original' Omega stuff at some point.

Still, means I've increased braking awareness by 50% at the rear for other drivers, maybe they can manage not to drive into me in future!!  :D ;D :D

It's much quicker if you don't refit the heat shields. Mine were quite badly damaged which made that decision easier.

Yep, getting the nuts on the rear shield mounting studs was a right batsrad of a job with the exhaust in-situ. >:( I decided the leave the front ones off for now as:

a) I might need to re-adjust the handbrake once the cable has settled
b) A couple of the studs sheared off despite loads of plus gas and very careful unwinding.

I wonder if I'll get round to refitting them?

I tried (and failed) to fit a new handbrake cable to mine last year  :(

I applied lots of releasing oil but sheared one stud and gave up getting any more undone despite trying half a dozen :(

Swearing didn't help - I tried (lots) ::)

I also tried fishing the cable through above the heat shields but that didn't work either >:(

I found routing the cable around the subframe the worst bit, although having to do the job in the rain wasn't good.

Stripped a pair of front struts for parts, measured springs in the process. Finally got around to swqpping the pulley off the new alternator, only to muller the windings whilst trying to undo the pulley >:( smaller pulley isn't big enough to take a deep ring spanner...

Anyways, cue lots of dismantling and I now have a fully functioning, intact apternator with the correct pulley and even found time to fit it ::)

Expansion tank out makes the world of difference to access, but had to remove the aux tensioner to allow the alternator to swing up into place...

Will find out if it actually works another day as I managed to break the front multiram solenoid removing the bagpipes :-X
