Don't understand that....as rears only go around really....about 30% braking .... 70% on the front plus fronts need the grip for accelerating and steering...  :-\ for FWD... why would you put new tyres on rear and leave the fronts 1/2 worn  :-\

That's exactly what you do, as the rears are responsible for far more of the steering than you think. Just as an experiment, try your car(FWD or RWD, it doesn't matter) in a big car park with the wheel nuts loosened a whole turn. It's why forklifts used in confined spaces have the steering wheels at the back.

DON'T forget to tighten the wheelnuts!!!

Not far off legal limit, maybe 1 or 2 mm going by the ridge thing to gauge depth.

M3 was broken recently, took to the twisters. Couple of T Junctions had to get away sharpish, had lots of wheel spin. Also just found I lacked confidence chucking it in, far better with Dunlops much happier  :)
Yeah, as worn out, they will be knackered on grip. Some tyres highlight this better than others, for example the original SportMaxx RT's had pretty good performance til about 3-4mm, when they utterly fall off a cliff. To the point, you're convinced something has broken.

With FWD, you are making huge demands on the front if the tyres are shagged.

Remember though, you need the best tyres on the rear, that's still true for FWD cars.

Fitted a far better condition front wing to one of them, just got to swap the rear door for an immaculate one I have been keeping then it'll be going to visit Serek for some improvements followed by a trip to Rustbuster's to hopefully prolong it's life.

...which in this afternoons light looks more Z147 than Z157.... Hmmmmm

The original one was good but had a very minor ding in it which of course I noticed every time I looked. Looking for an immaculate one but don't think i'll ever find one.  :'(

Managed to find an immaculate pair of late leather MV6 front seats tonight.... just when I need to commit my funds to something else. Isn't that always they way!

In keeping with my plan to stop working on cars, I took the 3.2 to the local stealers to fix an AC leak. After having it for a day and done nothing...." Very sorry sir we've been very busy!" :-\ :-\ :-\
They had it another whole day and rang me...
" It's been very difficult to identify where it is coming from, so we suggest you take it to an AC specialist!" WTF
"I elected to bring it to you as a VX dealer as you have the manuals and correct spares."
" Oh right, we'll send it to our other branch where they have the required expertise."
Why am I not surprised that VX has been sold off.

I'm surprised that you expect a main dealer to be interested in an open-ended job on a specialist system fitted to a 16 year-old car.
They're not, and never have been, set up to deal with such things. Try taking a job where they know they can halve the book time, and they will be ordering your favourite coffee.
Chances are they have a tame specialist for doing A/C work on current cars.

Cut the overheating positive battery terminal off the end of the alternator/battery lead.

Drilled the strands of copper out of the crimp and then soldered the cable in place again.

Terminal now stays cold and the battery voltage is 13.6v at idle - moments after starting engine (it was 12.5v yesterday) :y

'Interested?' Perhaps not, but prepared to undertake work on a customers car, which after explaining the fault, they agreed to do, is a reasonable expectation, even from a VX dealer. >:(

Put the tappets and rockers back onto the engine of the Senator-need to reconnect everything now - hope I remember where everything goes! (did take lots of photos). Then see if it starts and adjust the rockers with the engine running. Then it's time for an MOT.

Yeah you want them to take it and fix it, if they send it down the road to a specialist that should not matter to you.
