Fitted some new LPG injectors.

Like for like or summat different 

Same as it started off with - a pair of Valtek type 30s. Sub-£30 for a 3 pot rail. Should pay for themselves in a couple of tanks.

Scrounged the use of a Hydragas pump, and pumped up the Metro. Which confirmed my suspicion that the kid I bought it off had fitted individualising valves and not pressurised the displacers! A few pumps on each corner brought it up 30mm all round and now the suspension works, although the back is bit firm. Other advantages are that the overly wide rear wheels don't look so silly, it has some ground clearance and it no longer looks broken.


I'll polish it at the weekend ready for the Dockyard show at Easter.

Anyway, the real startling point here is this.....

TB's first ever admission that he likes a Facelift Omega, anytime soon he'll be saying how much he likes the soft touch buttons and switches and the fact they don't rust....

Obviously I liked the MFL more. The MFL was the pinnacle, before the bean counters took charge.

But its cheap to fuel (when fuel is available), cheap to tax for its size/power, cheap to insure, and chavved up, looks good and different. Its just about quick enough, its supremely comfortable. Whats not to like.

Oh, and the interior mirror is on the memory, and it sets the clock itself. Unlike the stupid Jag.

Changed the oil and filter and smashed my thumb on the idler. and then opened the glovebox and had the handle fall off completely and now I cant even close the thing..

It's the age old problem, what do you replace them with if you want something that has all the good attributes of a V6 Omega but about 5 - 8 years old and under £8K.

We've had all this before.....there really isn't anything. It's the same with BMW's of the same era. They were brilliant cars, but modern ones aren't the same.

Low spec 2011 XFs are starting to fall into that bracket, but in your case, check the boot size. Trouble with other rwd marques from that era, base spec means poverty.

Yes looked at a couple of XF's, no good for me as boot is far to small and access to it is too narrow, plus I wasn't overly convinced by the handling (that said the vehicles I tested were 5 years old so not the freshest of suspension).

Well after the Omega cruising through it's annual test a couple weeks ago once home and in the garage I noticed a large pool of coolent under it .
tcalss HBV sprung a leak . € 30 from main dealer seen a new one on the work bench.
On the x20xev the access space is , mmmm, challenged and after trying pliers , mole grips and the correct hose clip pliers I gave up ,ordered and got the remote extension version.

This did the job in minutes.
Filled up the cooling system and noticed some beads of water under bottom hose .
Radiator goosed......leaking from core at bottom under bottom hose. Ho hum !
Decided to buy locally instead on line in case of damage in transit. Had to buy one equipped with trans oil cooler asall seem to be sold that way.
Took opportunity to tidy up wiring insulation with fabric tape , derusted, painted and waxoyled first time exposed areas in 17 years ownership using my new Lidl waxoyl gun ( which at € 8 is an absolute gem ) .
All reassembled and tested ,fan coming in at 90 c , no leaks , happy chappy.
