Spent £500 on it in the last 3 months. :(
Using the Omega for work instead costs an extra £85 per month in fuel. Although taking clit tax / insurance / MOT costs into account thats probably nearer £70 I suppose. Plus, If I start using the Omega as my daily, things will start to wear out / go wrong with it.
It has 193000 on the clock, although well maintained and plenty of parts replaced. Still an old high mileage car though.
Even if I sold the Boxster for say £3000, and bought a commuting car, it could easily turn out to be a heap of shite.
No guarantee of a good car for that kind of money these days.
If I do scrap it I will pull the new turbo, new injector and cat off first and flog them separately.
Seems crazy for the sake of not being able to get a cam seal to do its job, but Im running out of ideas.
Breather system has all been thoroughly cleaned so it shouldnt be that.
Possibly worn / stuck rings ?
£160 a month leaves £75 a month for maintaining the Omega. The insurance and tax saving from not having Pierre LeMerde is gravy.

Realistically, I cant afford to run a 24mpg car as my everyday car long term. If Pierre goes to the scrappy then the Boxster / and or the Omega will have to go.
Sdly the cost of living crisis is starting to bite.  :(

Nearest station is at least 10 miles away.

At risk of sounding narky... The cost of the return trip is significantly less than the savings*

*cost of kit etc notwithstanding, but if you can fit it for £1,500 that's only a 3,000 mile pay off. :-\

It may well be reasonable to assume that station will get rid of its LPG pump in the not too distant future, as most others have already done, and then Ive wasted £1500.  ;)
Also, having previously owned an LPG,d Omega, I dont believe the savings were as good as a lot of people liked to think they were.

Fair point ;)

1.9CDTi 8v (120, not the 150) Vectrums are cheap enough. Or pool the cars and buy a tidy older 240/250D...

We have a 406 diesel in the fleet. 50mpg if I am taking it gently to and from work. Cheap as chips to buy and insure. Bits are cheap and they're easy to work on. If it helps.

I'd guess doubly so in your case where its mostly used as a commuter, so probably has to do a fair chunk of all its journeys on petrol while it warms up.  :-\

Something with the VAG 1.9 tdi lump in it would be my shout, I think they tolerate veg pretty well too  :y

Cut out the spare wheel well rot. By the time I was back to good metal the hole is 154mm wide. The steel I currently have in stock is 150mm. Buggeration.

If you've cut the whole wheel out, then you're going to need to add a considerable amount of shape to the repair panel. This is easier in two pieces. Your steel will allow a considerable amount of overlap, which makes it even easier.

Shape both, trim to fit, tack them together on the car, remove and weld together, then weld the new single piece to the car.

Appreciate the advice however the piece is only a small one, nowhere near the full wheel :y I just don't want to cut down my steel stock and end ul with little flimsy bits I can't use so Ive ordered another bigger section.

So yesterday I got the subframe out from under the car and started stripping it.

Imagine my surprise when I found the two nuts that hold the track control arms to the hubs... were both sitting about 6mm away from the mating face. God knows why but I'm lucky the joints had seized in place! Going to replace them as they're well goosed. :y

ETA I've never had them apart and can't remember who last did the alignment at the back...
