Had the rusty heap of junk dragged onto a flatbed and taken away for scrap.

I mean the Jag, obviously  ;D

I hope you anonymised it first. I don't want any come back when it burns the scrapyard down. :o

Well it's got no VIN plate ... but it still has someone's name carved in the back end  :P ;D

Wash thoroughly.
Clay bar to remove particles.
Insure all sticky crap is removed that could come loose and stick to the polisher causing more scratches. See to any imperfections, tar, lumps od crap before polishing.
Mcguires scratch ex2(?) for bad areas or Auto glym srp for swirls and general restoration, with an electric polishing pad from Halfords. Several applications where needed, keep going til happy.

Do one panel at a time. A whole car is way too much work.

That's it really.

Ps, also use two bucket method when washing a car. Not so much a single panel, but the principle is a good one. ;)

Had the Elite motd, which it passed with good emission results and only one advisory for tyre wear which I knew (must get geo done). Must be down to many cold days lying on concrete getting wet and fed up, oh and bashing my head off the bottom of shock absorbers, which hurts, a lot  :'(

Started prepping for the ABS show this weekend.  Spent a thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours taking the wheels off, giving all the wheel arches a good clean up, washing and polishing the wheels inside and out, and putting them back on.  Just got the wheel nut covers back on before the heavens opened!!  ::)

Tomorrow night... first pass of the engine bay and doors shuts...  :y

Last night... first pass of the engine bay and door shuts thoroughly cleaned.

Tonight... hoovered and shampoo'd carpets, dressed all interior trim and treated the leather.

Tomorrow... Will give her a properly good wash and maybe a clay bar, then when I get to the ABS rally on Friday, she will only need a quick wash, followed by SRP and EGP, a final engine bay dress, and a dollop of tyre shine for good measure!  :y

That's the plan anyway, I just pray the sun comes out!!  ::)

Well I've been messing with some old carbs lately. I wanted to get them ultrasonicly cleaned but nobody did it locally and I couldn't afford for bits to go missing in the post. So I've brought another useful garage tool which undoubtedly will sit in the corner of the garage unused once I've finished with it  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Actually this could turn into a well used addition to the garage how many times have you lost hours of your life trying to clean some part

sorted out a couple of rust patches on o/s/r door, then wished I never done the next bit took the plastic sill covers to check under there as I remember when I took it for mot he said was a bit rusty round rear of sill, so had a look and shock horror both sides are shot in various places. now contemplating what to do, as I remember previous cars I've had you just end up chasing rust around, so may well be looking for a new car soon(rubs hands with glee as spotted a nice elite on eBay today) :) :)

ah right, sounds very time consuming, and sadly something my arthritic shoulders would never be able to cope with doing.

Oh well   :(

On a happier note, James has potentially saved me a fortune, as a journey out today in 'Morticia' has proved that it was not the main oil seal that was p***ing oil everywhere, as since he cleaned the breathers on the car on Saturday and fitted new gasket & O rings to the cam cover, the car is no longer marking its territory   :y  :y  :y  :y
