Driven the RRS in several areas of the Lake District over the last few days, I can only describe the scenery as stunning , and the pubs & accommodation are pretty good as well. 👌
Have you done Hardknott and Wrynose yet? You can wipe out a few cyclists while you're at it.  :D
Many years ago, on a family holiday there, a cyclist tried to wipe dad out - it was raining and he had his head down, never saw us until impact. We'd actually stopped to give way to a car coming the other way, but the woman driver had made a right meal of squeezing passed us and taken forever...

...anyway, by the time she drives off so we can get out of the car to see what state the cyclist was in.  He was headfirst in a hedge, just his ankles poking out. Dad grabbed his ankles, pulled in out, and asked if it hurt?

Cyclist: "Yeah"
Dad: "Good. You won't do that again then, will you"

The cyclist's bike was donald ducked. So dad did the honourable thing and drove off.

I always chuckle when we do Wrynose and Hardknot ;D

If you've never been there, here is a drone view from bottom of Wrynose down into Eskdale, taking in both passes

My dad was a proper man, not one of these modern parents.

He taught my little bro to swim by taking him out to sea in our boat, and throwing him overboard.

Bro: "Dad! Dad! I can't swim"
Dad: "Best you learn fast, son"

Thanks for that TB. That was a pleasant 15 mins. :y You got a nice wave from one of the walkers at the start too.

Nice footage.  :y
The corner shown at 12.35 minutes in the video is an arse of a bend if you’re on a motorcycle. As you know, the hill is steep going down after the tight bend and on the way up the bend is too sharp to nail it. It also has a horrible camber to make it more awkward.
Power wasn’t an issue but the steep climb along the Hardknott corkscrew section had my 435d scrabbling for grip at some points, but then it did have those bullet hard sidewall Bridgestone Pretenders on it. It’s quite daunting going around the bend and being faced with such a steep climb that all you can see over the bonnet is sky.   :o
My Mrs doesn’t enjoy the Wrynose or Hardknott Pass journey one bit  ;D , but if you’re in that area it’s got to be done.  ;D

The tight left-hander (going the way the drone was) is obviously tight without great visibility - especially in a long bonneted car ;D.  Not sure when you were last there, but last summer the right hander following it is badly deformed (looks like it had melted, the something heavy had push the surface up into a pair of ridges) so even at 30ish, its a handful as the car gets upset over the surface.

It was also a bit damp when I was there last summer, which made the arse a bit twitchy under power ;D

I went over Hardknott Pass in the late 1980's with my mate in his 1000cc VW Polo Saloon! It's fair to say it struggled a little on the steepest bits, and yes, I do remember the disconcerting feeling of not being able to see the road as you go up.  :)

Imagine being a Roman soldier from somewhere nice and warm, Sicily say, and getting posted to Hardknott Fort.  :o  Jesus, that must have been a tough posting for them, or for anyone really....  :-\  ::)
