and after that wishbone battle too!
(and how are / were the poly bushes?)

Nice and tight, needs geometry checking as a bit of tyre scrub, just have to convince the assessor that the tyre wear is from the wishbones, not from driving 500yds off the M6 via a lorry. Droplinks still knocking too. Should have ordered a set with the arms ::).

finished making the cutouts in the fron bumper for the washer jets to fit into - then it was time to stop playing and go to work.

Today I unloaded it, having got back at 3 am. On a recovery truck....

Because yesterday I parked it in the back of a stationary rigid in a queue on the M6. Was at less than 10 mph, no jolt, no airbags. Just the gentle crunching sound of the bonnet being peeled back through the headlights, radiators and slam panel.

In the battle between the My Omega and a DAF CF 26t rigid, the DAF lost its number plate light. A hollow victory though, as the DAF went on to win the war. :'(

:-[It was bad enough to be such a tw4t to do it in the first place, but the had to arrange recovery myself in order to get home rather than be dumped at Preston station. >:(

Endless hours of insurance crap to endure now. They will only take the car to repair it as I won't let them take it away for assessment. Already trying to stitch me up with a poxyshytboxfiesta courtesy car >:(
Oh shhhh... ...sugar  :'(

Still, only bent metal - car versus lorry could have ended worse :y

Got bonnet open, and partially stripped front end in order to give the assessor chance to do a proper estimate rather than a 'well that might be ok/this might need changing but we won't know for sure until we've stripped it' guesstimate. No chassis damage, just the slam panel/headlight housing/radiator supports. Oh and the headlights, bonnet, radiator, air filter housing, grill and battery ::) Needed a new rad anyway...

Very, very true. Was a crap day for me, but know someone who went into hospital on Friday with a kidney infection, was released on Sunday, and had a fit on the way home. Now they can't drive for at least 6 months :'( Would have turned round on Friday if I'd heard... :-/ Puts things back in the right order me thinks.

Definitely repairable, just waiting on estimate now.

Not sure which is more surprising:

How hot the brakes get, or that you forgot how hot the brakes get :-X

He sorted his poor brakes a week or so ago, and asked what I thought, so we took for a spin.

Got back, one rear disk has odd wear, so licked my finger and touched it. I didn't hear the hiss, so I pressed harder, wondering why it was cold....  ....must have been the weekend's alcohol that affected my senses ::)

I did something similar at the weekend after using a grinder to shorten some threaded bar.. did the job, moved on to the next action and stuck my hand right on the hot end of the bar. "What's that strange sensation?" I thought, shortly before I realised it was the bar searing an imprint into the palm of my hand..

I've found out how much of a rust bucket my mig is and completely stripped  the rear end/subframe to sort. Also found out the rear subframe/diff bushes are shot(they fell apart when I undone them).

And the hard braking from 120mph might of added to the heat of the disk ? :-?

Exhaust swap out scheduled on Saturday at TheBoy's.
So the full decatted PowerFlow fruity exhaust coming off and an standard going on. Should please the wife anyway.

Must admit I'm not a fan of these single pipe from cat back exhausts. Too loud, and too slow... Flat mostly.  >:(

So I'm guessing with the inlet sorted, multi ram fixed, and exhaust breathing proper Daddy will be pleased....?  [smiley=evil.gif]

Shame couldn't dyno a before and after. :-/

Topped up gearbox oil.

Note to self, only take level plug out when engine is running so as not to waste half a litre of atf!
