Hmmm. Checked rear subframe bushes? (The ones unbolted for a rear spring change)

The front bushes fixed it. :y

Doesn't mean to say the rear is perfect, of course. It's overdue a good checking over.

It's ok I knew the answer. No. ;)

During donut fitting is as good a time as any I guess.

Fitted new rear shocks, and managed to get a litre of oil into the diff.
Ran it round the block; the ride has improved and it's noticeably quieter, but now I have a 'low field warning' on the dash. That will have to wait until Saturday.

Well, it seems that mine no longer exhibits clown car handling now the front wishbone bushes and drop links have been changed.

Odd one, that. I could have sworn it was the back end letting go. Rear wishbone bushes didn't look too bad either. Front bushes were and remain poly.

But no, throw it into a corner and it just goes round instead of feeling like it's about to swap ends. I can only guess that one of the front bushes had enough "give" to cause the front end to tuck in once a certain cornering force was reached. Really felt like the back end stepping out, though. :-\
I had similar with polys in the rearward front wishbones, felt like it was going to oversteer unexpectedly (yet strangely predictable once used to it) mid corner. So it seems if something is wrong with the vertical bush, you can get this sensation

So are we talking about a sensation from the stearing wheel, that feels like over steer?
Not through the wheel, no. More as if when you drive with a rear tyre that's half flat.

natural reaction is to countersteer, but if you force yourself not to, the car does respond fine.

Does that make sense? I find it difficult to describe the sensations in words  :-[

No, although when you last changed the wishbones on it (this is TBE, if you recall, when the poly experiment was swapped back for GM bushes), the problem went away, never to return...  ...well, not that handling problem, anyway ;D
