Took ofside sill cover off.. Not too bad just surface rust. Rear end of sill had an inch diameter hole  :( Wonder what the nearside will be like  :)

Hi EMD

Doc Gollum is right. Omegas especially are rusting on the left side.

Have also a look behind the inner arch covers, especially the front ends of the arches are rusting near the safety belt bolts. And do not forget to look behind the spare tyre. Sometimes a nice hidden rust hole there.

Nope all good., just surface rust. I was dreading it though.
Was expecting something like what tunnie found  :o

Thanks for those tips rofl, had a good look around and all good and solid  :y

Hi EMD

Good luck!

I just found another rust hole on my Caravan.  Inner arch, front right to passenger room. I will remove passenger seat (LHD) and carpet right side this weekend to see what is the going on there. I did the same two years ago on the left side, so I think there will be no existential problems.

Hope the bloody heat wave will be interrupted on Friday / Saturday. 30°C here....forecast for tomorrow: 32°C with thunderstorms later in the evening.

I will report.

Very hot again (33°C on my garage yard) but I prepared my caravan for welding coming weekend. Here is the problem:

passenger room front wall (is that correct in English?)

I want to weld from inside, so I removed passenger seat, carpet, isolation and a 4 inch polystyrene block that levels passenger foot room. I think the Vauxhalls have this block leftside, because the bodys are similar on RHD and LHD.

So I found this inside:

In the upper part of the picture you see the RHD cover for LHD versions.

Before welding I have think about isolation of the gasoline pipes in direct neighborhood.

Best regards

Rolf

The nearside of my car needs welding in a couple of places one of which is the left inner arch near the seatbelt mount up to roughly where the spring is and is about an inch in width. it also needs doing on the front nearside chassis leg near the front subframe mount. hours of fun for someone there to weld up.

Covered my Omegas with plastic foil. A strong thunderstorm front is coming in from France. The air is like PB. Still 30°C
(GMT +1) , cloudy, steamy....rain... tropical conditions.

Greetings

Pretty good weather conditions for the next two weeks. 1 A weather to work on the Caravan! And of course to have one or two drinks beside  ;)

3.2's aircon is broke again I think, not very cold air.  :(

Replaced the condenser and HP valve around 18 months ago, so must be another leak somewhere  :-\

I thought the plenum one was :-\

Tother is at the front next to the water pump pulley...

Either way, unscrew the cap and any leaks will be plainly evident ;)

The one with the cap, at the front near plenum was the one I replaced, with 15/17mm socket? Bit of a pig to remove, slippery bugger.

But I replaced it less than 18 months or so ago, with genuine valve. Being Friday I've actually managed to park near the office, so might check at lunch.

Have a feeling it's the compressor though, seen green water in that area  ::)
