How much this worth? 2000 Omega MV6 3.0 Auto Xplod
« on: 13 March 2008, 13:41:56 »

Considering selling my car as petrol costs are through the roof.....

How much you guys think its worth?

X Plod
White Omega 3.0
MV6
Auto
Leather Interior (added myself)
New Roof Lining

50k miles, only have documenation for the services that I had done. Brought when 35k on clock.

Lowered by 40 mil have original springs still. 5 Spoke Vaux Alloys.

Only problems with it is hole in dash under ashtray, pass air bag cover warped. New roof light, visor lights, rear pass lights and heated seats need connecting. Also rear spoiler to fit. Was planning to do these. . but like i say may sell the beast. :-/

Ex plod so not that much - depends what someone will pay, at least it is pre March 2001 and Facelift so that helps a lot.

I think the value has gone up by a few hundred since yesterday.

£800 to £2000

Why not keep it and lower the fuel costs instead

So what if it costs £800 DIY, it will pay for itself in a year.

You are not too far from me nor James and we have both done DIYs successfully, James over a long weekend, mine took longer but was a one man job over 4 weekends without taking the car off the road.

M8 just ease off the pedal, I notice that based on my driving I can get between 15-20 city and 20-30 highway, on my long trip I avaraged 28mpg and sometimes i have done even better then that.  Also try using lower grade petrol, the engine will detune the spark a bit to accomodate for the lower octane and that can save some money too, and wont hurt the engine.  I know a smaller motor will burn less but pump up the tires 2-3psi above the recoomended, it will be more bumpy but will have less rolling resistance.  also you can keep the A/C off most of the time it east 1-2mpg out of it, even in winter time because its used to dry the air...

Around here petrol shot up to around 3.50$-3.60$ in a matter of a week and that is from about 3$... so it hit us big time... and in a month or two we are expecting about 4$-4.50$ and Diesel is already in the 4$ range... and the funny part is you get on the motorway and most of the people are still flying and the gas guzlers are going at light speeds down the road.  I can alredy feel it... went from 30$ to about 50$ a tank in a matter of a year... and I only go abuot 240mi/tank... trip home is 300, and its getting expensive to drive I know but you got a nice ride, I wish I can get my hands on one like that.

BTW how would you rate the springs, is it really stiff?

Im trying to do that but best I can get is about 23 mpg. When I brought the car it was about 80p per litre, now its £1.05 + and rising.... Cost me about £62 per tank (about $125) which lasts about a week! Think im going to buy a scooter 55-60mpg !!....

Springs, only had them on a month but not too stiff really. Main issue is it bottoms out on the poor roads around Oxford. But loving the look they give, sat far too high before and had massive body roll.

Wow, so we are still lagging... my goodness, petrol is headed for the sky...

we pay 3.50$/galon which is about 3.875L so that makes it 0.90$/L which is about 0.45£ and actually that sounds cheap... so you m8s pay about 7$/gal in our price... well if that ever happens, I am selling mine and getting a bike or a small 3cyl Smart or something along those lines... screw speed and comfort...  a year ago our prices were around 2$/gal and when I first started driving back in 2000, gas was between 1$-1.23$ and it took about 15$ to fill up my Neon, back then I also made 6$/hr, today its about 50$/tank but I also make about 3x as much as back then...

Sadly  :'( our economy is about to hit a dead stop... I may ahve to move back to Europe, if it keeps going this way...
