One Year in the Making... Transformation
« on: 12 March 2008, 23:58:34 »

Washed her and took some pictures, then I went to save them and realized that exactly one year ago I washed her and took some other pictures.... well here is the difference...  A year ago she was a Cadillac Catera Sport, and today she has transformed into a Opel Omega...

Well the front plate and Grille were sent to me from europe, plate was ordered from Germany, and they were a present from a friend of mine.  The GTO/Monaro brakes cost me 100$, new tires were 500$, the Steinmetz exhaust was off a show car here in the US, and it was 100$, I got a new wing for the trunk as well as all new badging for it, but thats coming in a month or so... that was another 100$, 50 for the wing and 50 for various emblems..  the summer tires cost me 160$, that was one hell of a deal, and the HID kit was 70$.  KN Filter was 30$,  the USA Spec GM11 PA45 was 75$.

So comes to a total of 1145$ sounds like a lot but I didnt even notice it, Ohhh and various repairs and parts probably come up to 500$... Tie rod ends, Idler arm, new water pump, new timing belt kit... oil cooler, gaskets... so I got it for 8000$ and I probably put it somethign like 2000$ in it, and since I got it, 16months = 34,000mi on it, all fun, no problems, its never left me on the road... I am confident that I can hop in it and drive 2000miles without any issues... thats how much I like it, and I plan on upgrading to a GTO in the summer.

THe gto is exact same weight as the Omega, but has a 6.0L, 6spd, 400hp, goes about 18/26mpg and is just as much fun to drive..

We can get them here for 18-22K$ with 10-25Kmi... which is a steal deal for a car of that class..

Well I do have to pay about 100$ registration every year, for some stupid sticker on the license plate and also about another 400$/6mo for insurance... and guess what, If I save that kind of cash over the spam of a year I will have 800$ cash... and when you do get in an accident that rage goes to something like 800-1000/6mo so they screw you from every possible direction even when sometimes its not your fault...  so its just as bad... and that insurance stuff is mandatory around here...  Yeah I know it sux, at least we dont get to do the yearly inspection like you guys do...

Registration is equivalent to road tax - ours was £200 ($400) now going to be £440 ($880). Insurance would be around £200 - £800 ($400 - $1600)

Makes me wonder where the world is going... everything is getting more expensive...   :'( but our pay is still at the same level... I just heard that the deal was official, Tata bought Jaguar, and Land Rover for 8 Billion dollars, which explains the bonuses we just got...
I wonder why the sold them thou... no one sais anything...  :-/
