Up to date pics of the old chaps V6
« on: 01 November 2009, 17:15:39 »

The old chaps 2.5 V6 :D . . . Its had a good bath and running perfect thanks to useful guides on here . . . Vectra rocker covers have sorted the oil leak, and a replacement gearbox selector switch has cured the auto box fault. . .
 8-)
Its kept me busy, also sorted the cracking front doors for him  ;)
Its only on 65K so its a clean one  :y Had it about 5 years

Vectra covers sprayed satin black for a more factory finish  :P

I agree, love the colour. My last Chavalier (2.0 8v CD) was the same colour :y

Awesome lloking car - superb shine to the paintwork. 8-)

You say that you replaced the rocker covers with the ally Vectra ones, to sort out the oil leak - did you clean out the breathers when you fitted them?
If not, you'll be fitting new gaskets soon.....and find out that there's probably nowt wrong with the original (bloody horrible looking) plastic Omega rocker covers. ;)

It's not gaskets that become the problem. Vectra cam covers apparently move the excess pressure to the next weekest point ..... crank shaft seal.  :-?  :-? Not the best seal on an engine for access.  :(  ;)

Followed the guides on here, did clean them out, but they wern't to bad tbh. . .
The plastic covers were badly warped, there was no way they were gonna seal, did attempt it twice.
Refused to do it again with replacement covers :y
