battery
« on: 02 April 2010, 20:36:27 »

I know this sounds dim, and believe it or not I have owned my car for 7 years, my battery is flat, do I remove it from the car to charge or not?

"Hello" and Welcome :)

Tech questions are best asked in "Omega General Help" as more of "them that know" read there !!!

If the battery is totally flat I would at least disconnect it. It may draw a large current initially and cause your charger to "spike" the voltage which, in theory, could damage car electronics.....

If it is just low, and you have an "intelligent" charger like the CTEK 3600 then it should be ok to just connect it up ...

That's what I've done without any problems ... but perhaps I was lucky .... :)

The powersounder alarm will sound ... to stop this .. loosen the 0v (earth) connection but don't remove it. Switch the ignition on, pause then off... remove the 0v (earth) connection within 15 seconds of selecting "off"
