Hallo,

I asked this in the other place but thought it might get a better response here with it being omega only.

My facelift 2000 MV6, the alarm arms (or what I presume to be the alarm, I just mean the flashing light on the main console) but if I sit in the car and move around it goes off, the lights start going but nothing else, no sound.

I've searched through the forums but have yet to find a clear answer, it appears the Omega has 2 diff alarms an alarm and a powersounder, is this correct? What is the difference between the two?

I've located the scuttle, unfastened it on the drivers side and lifted it up. There is only one connection in there that I can see, I have removed and reseated it but no change, just lights flashing, nothing audible. What should I be doing next?

I have included a pic of my engine bay to help and I was wondering if maybe some of the more knowledgable members of the forum could make it into a bit of a template and mark all the frequently named bits on it? We could all use it as a reference item then, it would certainly help me and hopefully others like me who don't have a clue

For normal alarms, the sound comes from horn type sounder, also up under scuttle. Is this plugged in?

I thought the power sounder was located on the drivers side inside the scuttle, this I thought went off when you disconnect and reconnect the battery and the normal alarm uses the Horn, may have that wrong.

Does the horn on your car work?

Certainly earlier cars used a horn up near power sounder...

His is an Ex-plod Mv6, can any of you other guys confirm whether the plod disable any of the alarm systems.

Hi Chaps, yes car is ex-plod.

I've not actually tested the horn on it's own, I shall do so later today.

Can someone clearly state the the following as I'm hearing so many different things.

What is the difference between power sounder and horn?
Where is each one located?
When I sit in my car with the alarm on and set it off and the lights start flashing what is that going off, powersounder or alarm?

The power sounder is located behind the scuttle and the horns are located behind the bumper on the passenger side at the front.

My alarm goes off quite abit as I lock the boys in the car if on my own when at the petrol station, It to me sounds like the horn goes off for a few seconds then the indicators tend to flash, this happens if one of the boys move.

Shall have to double check.

Power sounder for me as a rule goes off when I need to get into the car to reset the alarm. usually when I unlock the car with the key and open the door.

Try locking the car on the fob and opening the door with the key, does the alarm go off.

Not 100% if the above is correct shall double check later.

There's a button to disable the ultrasonic sensors in mine. It's got a stick man and ripples coming from him as the symbol. I can't remember if you have to press it before or after taking the key out but it's before opening the drivers door anyway and it lights up.

  I always forget to do it which is why it goes off alot.

On mine I need to press that button when the ignition is off & (I think) within 15 seconds. It doesn't matter whether the door is open or not.

Power sounder goes off when you disconnect the battery - the only way to stop it is
disconnect the battery terminal within 15 seconds of switching the ignition off.

Powered by two button type batteries.

Horn type sounder goes off if alarm triggered, power sounder if battery supply interuptted.  On the project car, both the power sounder and alarm horn are up under scuttle.

On my MV6, power sounder there, but so long since scuttle off, not sure if alarm horn there...

As it is ex-plod, check under the right wheel arch liner. There could be a bonus waiting for you in the form of a Woo woo police siren. Illegal to use, but heck a useful find all the same.

Alrm sounder has probbaly been disconnected or even removed. they are a pain!

Both the poser sounder and alarm horn on Proj TB1 had been disconnected. I assume this was because previous owners had no remote fob. As I bought a fob for £5, I have reconnected both these up
