Are the standard pre-face lift headlight units the same as those fitted to later face-lifted models. I have a 99 'T Reg' and today went to change a bulb. When removing the bulb the internal section of the light made a cracking nose and is now flopping about loose - presumably broken!

Just located a 2nd hand light from a local breakers off an X Reg for £30 - will this fit?

In contrast also located one from a T Reg like mine - that scrap yard wants £75 - massive contrast.

Hi, I am afraid the later type headlight is different to the pre-facelift. The later one has a different fitting for the bulb holder on the rear, I think it is also a slightly different shape. Is yours the clear type or the frosted, make sure you get the correct lens type. I think you will get one cheaper than £75 off e-bay, it seems rather a lot of money to me for a used headlight.

Seems I'm having problems getting hold of the light then. There seems to be loads of early lights (frosted lense) and quite a few face lifted lights too with prices ranging from £30 - £45.

However, the type I need - clear lense, pre-face lift there ain't any around other than the one at £75 which I think is steeply priced. Anyone any ideas where to try in Manchester area?

If the internals are still intact it sounds to me like one of the clips to one of the adjusters has broken, if you can get your hands on an old light unit and rob one out of that you maybe able to fix yours.

Re shelled a set of projectors I got for nought and found the insert was held in place by three clips one top left/right and one for the lower/raise motor

You maybe lucky as it may have just come unclipped

If you can remove the headlight in question you would hopefully be able to see if it has broken or just come unclipped.

I used the adjusters from the old style headlight in my projectors and they work fine.

If one of the plastic adjust blocks, that clip to the reflector, has broken inside the head lamp they're made of a plastic that doesn't really want to be glued. I had this problem the other week end after I'd noticed that both side lights had blown. I ended up 'welding' the two bits back together with the end of a soldering iron and filling the middle, where the adjusting screw pases through, with an epoxy glue. It's lasted a fortnight so far. It all comes apart quite easily once you've persuaded the lense that it will come off!

Have you tried any of the scrappys in the Pimhole area of Bury? There's about half a dozen of them about 2 minutes from jct 1 of the M66

Thats because they are sought after, as people upgrade frosted type (reflector) to clear (projector).  Not sure they are that expensive new...

I think it has been mentioned before but the seller is not the best and the goods are designed for a left hand drive car, I think it was a member called riso who bought a set only to find they were an MOT failure.

This is part of the problem I had, fortunately I was able to use the adjusters from an old set of frosted in the Projector headlights passed on the MOT after adjusting on fitment no problem.

I used the misses hair dryer to heat the sealing glue that holds the lense in place, worked a treat
