Have I got a depressed airbag?
« on: 30 October 2006, 19:17:42 »

Does my passenger airbag look depressed to any of you?  I'm thinking that someone has rested something heavy on it in the past (probably large pieces of timber) and it has bent the mountings.
My thinking is that i disconnect the battery, remove the glovebox then remove the airbag and straighten up the bracketry.

But the air vent to the left sticks up by quite a lot, so either that is up in the air or the airbag is down.

yup, as I say, about normal. Air vent was probably designed by different bunch of germans than those who designed airbag cover....

its fine that part of dash is resonably thick so the airbag sitting underneath is probably unaffected by and change in outer dash. Proabably just the equivelant of bubble syndrome that happens on pre facelift centre console  :o

Looks like air bag is ok, but would say air vent is not sitting right at the top ( they do tend to sit slightly proud of the airbag), go to  www.autotrader.co.uk and have a look at some photos of these cars and you'll see what I mean, sounds like you're as finicky as me and I would have to level that vent up! :)
cheers Pete

Try removing and refitting the vent, never know, it might fit back into correct position

Notice you have the same syndrome as I had on my last omega pre-facelift, would recommend you remove the duck head umbrella, it is obviously having an adverse affect on your air vent, air bag ;D ;D
