Tunnie,
why do you say
The MV6 is an excellent blend of smooth ride & excellent handling, but avoid the 2.2 Sport.
I assume that the Sport is the same as the MV6 but without the V6 !
Is your recommendation to avoid the 2.2 Sport just because the 2.2 in a Omega doesn't make it particulary fast, and therefore not very sporty ?
I originally chose the 2.2 before i found this place, and i got the 2.2 for 2 main reasons at the time:
Lower Insurance
Better Fuel Economy
I did have a 2.5 V6 Auto for a while as a project car, and found it thirsty, got 28mpg on a run back from the seller.
I think the best option however is a 2.5 or 2.6 Manual, the Auto's do drink more than the manuals.
Having said that, the 2.2 is not fast. But its no slouch either!
It will sit @ 80 mph all day long, and easily get over 35mpg if all is well under the bonnet.
After cleaning the breathers and having a new exhaust it doesn't hang about.... and to prove that here are the 0-60 figures from parkers.co.uk :
2.2 Manual: 9.5 Sec
2.2 Auto: 10.5 Sec
2.6 Manual: 8.2 Sec
2.6 Auto: 9.2 Sec
3.2 Manual: 7.7 Sec
3.2 Auto: 8.7 Sec
Generally Add 1 second for autos... which means a 2.6 auto is only fractionally quicker to 60 than my 2.2.
Its all goes in circles really, the V6's are defo better engines and very much smoother compared to my 2.2 in dream world i'd have a 3.2 Auto but that would drink to much fuel.
If i was in the market again, i'd get a 2.5/2.6 Facelift but a manual.
The reason i said avoid the 2.2 sport is it should never have been badged a "sport"... the seats, the trim will make it look fast, but it just aint. But on the other hand you get the nice MV6/Sport seats, but with better economy than the V6.
None of that really made sense, ah well!
