Wanted - MV6 (facelift) console photos
« on: 09 November 2006, 13:42:56 »

Hi guys,

My car is an ex plod 2003 3.2 v6, so has a very basic interior.

I want to replace the centre console, it's got a few holes from all their gear (not as much as I thought though)

I'm thinking of putting in MV6 style dash bits & pieces, but need an idea of what it would look like.

If anyone can post up a couple of pics, or PM for my email info, I might just be grateful enough to buy drinks at some future meet!  :)

Cheers

Fantastic - Didn't even think of looking at the photos on there - Doh!  Ummmm, it's been a long week.

So it's all a bit black basically - no worries!

Noticed none of them have speaker grilles either in the front doors. I'm going to upgrade the speakers, and wanted it to at least look like I have speakers, even if not the shiny new speaker covers etc.

Thanks Mark :)

Best upgrade for the standard Omega audio is to amp the door speakers to about 30W RMS and filter out the low end stuff and bung a sub in the boot.

The speakers are already good and you dont want bass in a door as it just rattles the locking rods, windows, door skin etc.

I might try take a look and see if it has the decent speakers in it (Bose?) as it's ex-polizei they might have not put anything worth having in.

I certainly think it's a bit too bassy for me at the moment. Had same head unit and infinity speakers in my old car, and that sounded great.

Could just be the door panel thing - With no grille! - in the way. Not that I'm upset about the grill.  Oh no.

Cool, thanks guys for all the photos and ideas.

I'll take a look at the alu style, if not I'll leave it at black.  Need to change the ashtray, as it's a wood effect one at the moment :)

With the police hacking about in there, there's no lighter either, so a few steps to go.

Thanks again  :D

the pics from fleabay are of a restored ex-plod mobile ... easiest way to tell that I've noticed so far is a lack of controls for the heated front seats, the left-hand one should be clearly visible above the hazard switch. B52's one is what a MV6 should look like ...

I agree - also they are all suspiciously rarely manual and without leather, I suspect that most civee MV6 would have been auto and with leather. And as can be seen they all have the very basic TID instead of a proper MID - I can't imagine that Vx sold MV6 to the public with TIDs.

My 97R Reflection was all black inside… what joy.

Sadly, my current facelift CDX has the infamous fake ‘Wood effect’.. but IMO there are only two console trims to go for, either the GLS black or the MV6 ‘Kevlar effect’ graphite….

The Bose system simply used the standard speakers and added a couple of small bass units, and then amped it to 30w rms. :)

So, if it has speakers there, simply do as Mark says... add a nice 4 channel amp (Alpine V12 pre 2001 is an excellent choice), filter off the low stuff to a decent sub and away you go! :)

Oh, and am I the only person who quite likes the "wood" effect of the facelift interior?  :-?

thanks for the further info :)

I might look at getting a proper set of MV6 seats / cards etc from a breakers if I can find one.

Is the wiring likely to be in place for heated seats & switches? If not no drama, I'll just have a cold butt ;)
