Cold running
« on: 11 November 2006, 17:26:15 »

Does anyone get this with their 2.2 Omega; when engine is cold and around the 1500 -2000 rpm, I get what feels like driving over rumble strips, what I have noticed is that if fuel gauge is sitting between empty and 1/4 it's worse strangely enough but once engine is warm everything is fine.

I think I know what you mean - is it worse when you go downhill - ie foot off the throttle?

Cos mine gets little bursts of speed - and MID readout on fuel consumption shifts from 9999 to 45 MPG & then back again to 9999.  Sometimes feels like the wheels are unbalanced?

May just be settling in while the Lambda sensor heats up - but there'll be an expert along in a minute to advise.  :y

Haven't noticed it worse downhill, but the strange thing is that with low fuel in tank i.e between empty and 1/4 is particularly bad after filling up it's vertually eliminated!, now beginning to wonder about the fule pump not coping with low fuel.

It might be worth popping the level sensor/pump assembly out the tank and checking the pickup pipe....

When was the fuel filter last changed? Since it's when the fule is low it's likely to be something to do with the pickup pipe/pump/filter area. Mine sort of rumbled when the EGR valve needed cleaning but the engine light came on as well then.

Good point Mark, certainly worth checking pick-up pipe, is it easy to access and remove do you know off hand? can't remember from the last time I changed the fuel filter some months ago.

I used to get this before I cleaned out the throttle body and all the breathers, never had it since.
