Cambelt tomorrow
« on: 17 November 2006, 21:59:44 »

OK gonna finally do the cambelt tomorrow and I just wanna make sure I've not forgotten anything important.

Parts

1. cambelt kit
2. water pump with rubber o ring seal
3. Aux belt
4. 5 litres of VX red coolant

Tools

Selection of metric sockets, spanners etc including cranked ringer for adjusters
Torx bits
Star sockets
Star spanners
*Locking kit*

And of course portable DVD Player and the cambelt DVD.

Anything spring to mind that I've forgotten before I disable the car?

...I did watch the DVD however out of interest - you don't mention the locking tool, but surely you have one ready?

This is a picture I collected from this forum (I think) some time ago, not sure who posted it but if anyone recognises their broom in the background then the credit is all yours!

You probably won't need this picture if you have the DVD, but here it is anyway:

The red and yellow lines refer to the tensioner adjustments.

OK the good news is its done  ;D ;D. Went very well except for getting the wrong aux belt so the old one went back on. Cambelt kit changed, waterpump changed and aux tensioner regreased. Only real problem was one of the cable tray set screws wouldn't undo and snapped the nut out of the cam cover but apart from that a job well done. I must say the DVD was indispensable, we had it playing at the side of the job and like has been said before watch a bit then do a bit if youre not sure watch it again. Thanks to all involved in the making its an excellent guide. :y
