DIS Pack
« on: 27 November 2006, 23:05:43 »

Helo everyone :), I just got myself a 1999 Omega V6 2.5l CD and love it, its my second Omega and  I am well and trully hooked. I bought the car with a missfire and after changing the leads plugs and rocker cover gasket it is still there. I have sourced a 3 litre V6 dis pack and wondered if it will be suitable. After reading the forums I am aware there are 3 different DIS packs but if this one is the same manufacturer as the one that is on the car will it be ok even tho its from a 3 litre V6?

OK, I have looked into this, and according to the Vauxhall Trade Club catalogue, there are three type of DIS packs for the V6:

2.5/3.0 Early models P/N 90444184
2.5/3.0 Interim models  P/N 90511450
2.5/3.0 Later models P/N 90541062

As far as I am aware the differences are in the mounting brackets and connectors shape, but they are the SAME for 2.5/3.0, so if the 3.0 DIS pack that you have seems to be of the same size and shape as the one on your 2.5 then it should be OK.

Keep in mind through that misfires throw raw petrol at the cats which will damage them so don’t drive around with the misfire – try to get it sorted ASAP before continuing to use the car.

Also, if you do need a new DIS pack, they are expensive from Vx, and best bought on eBay for around £80 of from breakers (a new one will be a safer bet though).

This one is the Later model, if this is the one you need then you can look it up on eBay under the Vx P/N 90541062 or the Bosch P/N 0221 503 017:

Thanks for the welcome and the quick replys :) I have arranged for a mechanic friend to replace it later this week and have actually bought 2 from ebay both being different to make sure I have a chance of having the correct one but knowing my luck I will have the 3rd different type one :(. I will just put the one I dont use back on ebay. He quoted me 30 quid which seems really cheap considering that from what I read it is a pig of a job to fit >:(. I bought both DIS packs used but paid 32 quid for one and 45 quid including shipping for the second both including shipping so seems pretty cheap to me as long as they work which the sellers say they both do :), fingers crossed :P

About the missfire I am suffering from, I have also read it may be a vaccum leak/air leak that can cause it. I have noticed that the heating wont direct to the floor well when turning the dial in fact it wont change from the windscreen, is this likely to be a leaking or disconnected vaccum hose and could it cause the missfire?.

I am not sure this could be causing your misfire but its got to be worth checking

There is a maintenance guide on the Vacuum pipe system for the V6
