I'm a Happy Hector
« on: 10 September 2006, 18:55:53 »

Got up this morning asnd was going to finish off the plasterboarding in my conservatory for my mate to plaster it in a couple of weeks time, but as the sun was on it it was too hot to do anything so decided to tinker with my MV6

Thought id have a go at the breathers and change the spark plugs and see if i can get the bloody rear multi ram working!!

Managed to get the plenium off and was very happy, no sign of crud at all. even the throttle bodies were almost spotless (the plenium i bought off R McB was covered in about 3mm of black crap but in saving that for another little project), no cleaning needed. :)

Managed to change the spark plugs and was happy wells were dry, no sign of oil so smile still on face.

Managed to bolt all the plenium back down no spare screws, started up and runs sweet as anything. :)

Looked at multi ram, rear still not working  :(, but front does on a long rev

Surfed around and found the line diagram for the multi ram, followed all the pipes and all seemed ok, so thought id look at my 2.5, even though its a facelift and a short plenium thought had to be plumbed the same (i know this one works with a little blip of throttle back opens, long rev front opens), then i noticed on the 2.5 the 'T' on the front solenoid goes in the top on the 3ltr its in at the side.
Swapped the 3ltr to the top and BINGO, rear pops on a little blip front on a long rev  :)

Just been for a spin and on a bit of road that i know if you go round bend at bottom at 40 itll be doing 105 by the time i need to brake for the s bend at the top, its approx 0.5 miles between bends uphill.
This time i was doing 112 by the time i had to brake  :)
Of course these speeds are in Km/h  ;)

All in all a good day especially as im a mechanical numpty :)

It feels good, doesn't it when you achieve success at the end of a little project.

Well done Phil.

Wouldnt be too sure on that, mines done 120k now, it had 77k on it when i bought it, last owner changed oil about every 10k ive gone near 15k each time and its clean as a whistle.

Think it may have something to bo with the fact I only use fully synthetic Mobil 1, so doesnt degrade/ gloop up as much as mineral oil?  :)

Cheers for the comments, not quite up to cambelt change yet, but gradually working up to it  :)
