Car phone kits - Questions
« on: 30 January 2007, 11:50:44 »

Another thread (on the dark side) has got me thinking of installing a car kit for my phone again.

A few questions have come to mind though with stuff that was in the back of my mind from scan reading other similar threads:

1. Is the aerial on the roof of my 2001 CD Saloon a phone aerial or radio aerial? I'm sure someone said that it was a phone antenna and only worked with certain networks (and terminated under dash on drivers side)

2. What do I need to rig a kit through the stereo (so that MESSAGE appears and music mutes during a call)? I have Traffic Master installed. I believe that different leads are needed if this is the case.

3. There is a conference mic thingy in the courtesy light (I think), Is this actually fitted as standard or is it just a space for it? Where does this terminate or how do you use this mic for a car kit?

I have an external mic and antenna fitted at the moment, left over from a previous installation, but not sure if I need them anymore.

Anyone got any ideas?

All the required connections should be on a multipin plug behind the glove box.....then you simply need the interface kit...do check the courtesy light though....the connector for the mic will be there but, the mic might not be!

Do a search in the audio/electrical section as its been covered before, thinks its a CARK91 kit (could be wrong) with an interface cable etc...

cark91 for older nokias, cark7w for newer bluetooth ones (optional cradle recommended).  Not all omegas are prewired.  Cark7w doesn't need external aerial...
