V6 running temperature

What is your running temperature? mine is between 80 and 84 and I think it is low.

Can't remember is the DBW units run a little cooler anyway?

My 3.0l runs at about 92/93 this time of year, in traffic up to mid nineties before fans kick in...

What is the middle of your gauage?

Pretty sure it's 80

well it has 70 & 90 and the correct number of gaps

In traffic, up-and-down between (roughly) 90-100.

On Motorways, usually around 90 (i.e. the fans don't need to kick in) but on very cold days it may not lift over 85 even on a long run.

Mine (mini facelift) sits just below the 95 mark, midway up the guage, on normal driving but can reach 100 then drop down by the fans when stuck in traffic.

I have always wondered how some claim running temps of 80 with the needle midway, when my guage shows 95 midway?

Is it simply the card face thats different with different markings, thus needle deflection is actually the same or what?

Mini facelift one sits at around 92-95ish....facelift one sits at around 87ish....

Mines all over the place for the first 15mins or so, as it should be. Its gets up to 90 after about 5mins, then the stat pops and it drops to about 80, up to 90 again then the matrix has warmed up sufficiently for the heater fans to kick in, down to 80 again, then slowly (this weather) up to 90 again.
Phew, that was long-winded :)

Thats exactly what my 2.2 runs at.... 82/83 ish on the motorway. 85 on slow roads, very occasionally hits 90 in town. But thats quite rare has to be heavy stop start stuff to get it up that high.

One thing that causes them to run cooler is a knackered air-con condenser. With my new one, it ran a few degree's warmer  :y

I think it may be your thermostat. Mine was running in low 80's so I looked and the stat was warped.

OK, semi sensible but honest question here.....

Is it actually the temperature reached that is displayed upon the guage, or is the relative degree of needle deflection the case in point?  ie does 82 ish on a facelift equal 93 ish on a prefacelift as the actual needle deflections are roughly the same?

...... asks confused from Scotland...
