Spare tyre size
« on: 08 February 2007, 14:17:32 »

Noticed yesterday when cleaning out the rolling sh#tpit that i drive (Blo#dy kids - no respect for a decent motor  >:( ) that the spare is a 205 15" as apposed to the 225 16" alloys on the corners.  Is this right? or has somebody swooped the spare for the smaller size ( I know that it should be a steel spare rim) The rim and tyre look as if they have never seen tarmac before so I'm a bit suspicious.

Mine has a 15" spare but I can't remember the tyre size. Think what you've got is what you should have.

that works out at virtually the same size as the 225/55R16 that all my other wheels are.

I think it must be the GLS size rim that is supplied even though it is for the same size engine.

I think pretty much all Omegas have a slimmer steel spare.

Any fatter and the boot floor won't go down perhaps.

Nope - pre facelift. Interesting reading about the elite / MV6's though.

My spare is the same size(205-65-15). Got a puncture the other day and after changing for the spare, tried to put the alloy in the spare wheel well, no bl**dy chance. I think this explains the steel wheel spare syndrome, plus it saves Vaux the cost another alloy for each Omega.

The 235 and 225 sizes do not fit in the spare wheel boot space; unable to correctly close the boot.

Technically, a car would fail MOT presented with three full size tyres and one smaller on the wheels.

Brochure states steel spare is 195 on MV6/Elite, 205 on GLS/CD/CDX - what nonsense!!

My MV6 has a steel 205. Some early Elites (on 225s) have 225 spares, most 205.
