interior leak...
« on: 17 February 2007, 10:10:50 »

this morning, i found that the carpet is damp on the front passengers side
it is mostly damp near the outer edge (nr. door), but only the flat part of the carpet

could this be caused by the pass. side scuttle drain being blocked?

thanks,   stu

I had similar problem, traced it to the sunroof!
Water was getting in front N/S corner, running down windscreen pillar & onto the floor
The give away (found eventially) was a damp headlining

thanks mate
headlining not damp, so not sure about sunroof

the dampness is mainly near the door edge, in the middle of the flat part of the carpet

any more ideas would be greatly appreciated....

Scuttle drain is favourite. Check it out before it damages the heater blower motor or speed controller.

That's where the water from the sunroof eventually found it's way to!

Thanks guys

Already cleaned the scuttle drain yesterday, it was the first thing that came to mind when i noticed the damp carpet
It was blocked, so hopefully that is looking like the most likely cause
Thanks for confirming my suspicions.....

Sounds like it.  You may have to replace pollen filter though, as they never seem to dry properly afterwards, and cause misting.

Always keep drain clear - every time I open bonnet, I put a jug of water down there to help keep clear (ie about every 3 weeks on average)

Hi stuvaux,

My facelift estate, without sunroof, had same problem. Cleaned schuttle, still same. Found that water on passenger side windowscreen. Instead of going around pollen filter was making it inside and then into the cabin. Put some thin plastic around top of pollen filter box and no more water in footwell.

Also big problem with current F**d models. My work '56' mod Fo^us is the same.  Windows mist up when heater first put on. As it is under warrenty then the dealer can sort. :y

Hope this helps M8.

Certainly possibly, but blocked drain far more likely ;)

Always keep drain clear, expensive damage can be done to fan and its controller....

I open my bonnet more frequently than every 3 weeks!  ;) The washer bottle needs filling most weeks for a start.  :y

My wife's Astra G has a tendancy to do that. I eventually  :-[ removed the pollen filter on it yesterday - a job somewhat less straight forward than an Omega  :( and removed a tree's worth of sh1te! it was all dry though. I'm sure she'll whinge report back any improvements  ::)
