I've read the thread and can't see it's worth leaving over....but it's Pete's decision and let's simply say "You're welcome back anytime" and leave it at that  :y

Now, that's not quite right Jaime. What we can now read and judge by is not what was there clearly, as you removed an offending post.

I have just had a similar experience on another forum I moderate on and the member that left will be also missed, but the offending post was left withy minor asterix editing so that others could get the jest of why they were offended.

Not saying you have done wrong Jaime at all. It is just difficult for us to see what went wrong and I would suggest removing that entiore thread may be a better option.

Then publicly floggy Laidback just for the hell of it! :y

Stop! Stop, will you?! Stop that! Stop it! Now, look! No one is to stone anyone until I blow this whistle! Do you understand?! Even, and I want to make this absolutely clear, even if they do say 'Omega'.

I am the first to agree I could/should have moderated that a little better. Perhaps I should have left it to one of the other guys, as I was busy after spending all evening under a tractor, thentrying to sort out some server issues.  However, as the PMs seemed to be coming to me, I did a quick and dirty and removed the offending post (at request of alledged offender (reading between the lines), plus all those that followed, as most had quotes in, and had gone off the original topic.

Perhaps, entire thread removl may have been better, though you know I am against that, unless the orignal post was a problem.

The best way, in my book, would have been to spend more time on the issue - but unfortunately it was time I didn't have - a PM box of 40 unread msgs, server issues, another OOF issue that I won't go in to here, plus the other forums I moderate.  It was all going a bit wrong yesterday...

So sorry to anyone if you think I did wrong - its a human task to moderate, and for a variety of reasons, decisions can sometimes appear/be wrong.

Don't be too hard on yourself, Jaime. You do a super job and it's one which 99.9% of us wouldn't be able to handle. The problem here is one of human nature. Whenever you get banter, boundaries are crossed and because on the net we do not have the advantage of telling if we've offended, or seeing if someone is jesting, things can get out of hand. Of course we need moderators, but at the end of the day it's up to the members to sort out their issues in an adult way. We are all capable of throwing the toys out of the pram, but you're not a child minder!  ;)

Agree - on the spot decision made to remove offending posts, problem area therefore removed. Good immediate decision. :y

We can always perhaps make better decisions after sitting down and methodically analysing things.

That however is called hindsight. Not something any of us have the benefit of at the time.

To put some of this in a clearer form, last night I posted what I considered to be light hearted banter into a thread; however, it was not taken as such and on re-reading what I wrote I can see why.

As soon as I realised that what I posted was offensive I immediately posted an apology to Sir Miggy, I certainly never meant any upset, I also PM'd Sir Miggy to apologise and have said both via PM and on this thread that I am the guilty person and I will leave if it would convince Sir Miggy to not leave.

TheBoy deleted the offensive post from the thread which I believe was the correct thing to do as it would have spiralled further out of control; I thank him for his swift action.

I publicly wish to say that I am deeply sorry and upset that a post of mine has caused offence to Sir Miggy and possibly other people on this site. I am totally gutted that a forum that has been so friendly and helpful to me has been damaged by my actions.
