Suspect HBV
« on: 12 April 2007, 21:41:21 »

Hi All
Rocker Gaskets seem to be holding OK after changing, and cleaning breathers about 1000 miles and 4 weeks ago. So hopefully no more oil drips.
Now for the next task although giving it a good check when scuttle and plenum was removed I still suspect that it might be leaking under certain conditions. I seem to remember reading on forum that HBV can leak when climate is turned off. Basically I seem to be getting drips from bottom of bell housing after driving with climate turned off. Although red in colour I am sure its antifreeze and not auto-trans oil. Plus Header tank level is dropping slightly over a period of time.
So can anybody advise on best way check?
I intend to remove scuttle again to obtain best view, then run with climate on then climate off then on econmy.
Is this the best way or should I carry out a set proceedure to put maximum pressure on valve.

Thanks in advance as usual.

The HBVs fail in different ways, so best thing is to visually check, both with heat on HI and LO...
