Door card and button
« on: 24 April 2007, 11:10:53 »

Hi,

Activated my central locking accidentally on my 02 2.6 Auto via the fob when i was shutting the door, now the locking button on the drivers door refuses to go up or down when locked by the fob, it works fine on the key, I am thinking that a linkage or clip has dropped off.

My question is, anyone come across this before and how easy is the door card to remove on a facelift, i have done them on my pre facelift.

Thanks.

Frank.

Never had this issue, I think I have seen something in the maintenance guide on how to remove the door cards.

This happened on my passenger door. I sat in the car and pushed and pulled the lock whilst activating the fob. This seemed to free it up and no problems since. That was about 3 months ago.

Worth a bash before riping it to peices :P

Does it feel like it's starting to operate, then stop short of operating the lock? If so I agree with DTM, the lock is on its way out!

That’s a door card and locking mechanism removal jobby.  I've had x2 of these go on mine.  One was a replacement and the other I managed a repair!  Bit tricky if you have big hands like me!  :y

Thanks, no it does not move at all, will have a look this weekend after i have bought a new box of plasters (i dont have small hands),.

It will also give me a chance to fix the really annoying rattle from the door locking button.

Is it me or are the facelift models built with cheaper materials than the pre, before this current car i had a 96 2.5 cdx at 170,000 miles, it had no rattles or bits of trim falling off, my current one has has the above mentioned locking button rattle, a rattle from the auto selector (i think a small cable tie will fix this), puddle light lenses falling off, the passenger sun visor will not sit flat against the roof, and the passenger door card does not fit at the top properly, and the ash tray will not open, all small things but annoying none the less.

Regards

Frank.

Do it early on sat as if you need one you could pop down to a breakers/scrap yard before they shut.

The pre facelift mech's use the same design, with the same type of motor, although they use a different connector.  If you can't get your hands on a facelift replacement you can use a pre facelift as a donor for the motor/gearing!
