« on: 18 May 2007, 09:01:53 »

Hi, Me again, asking for help!!!  :)

When i got my Omega, I had lots of pixels missing on my lcd screen, so I got a new one, came in the post this morning, just put it in, and its alot worse than the last one, he told me it had no missing pixels, the swine.

Now, im sure i have read somewhere that it may be possible to fix these, is it???

Anyone know how???

Swine... I believe something can be done with them, seem to recall someone on ebay was fixing them for a charge?

I will have to look, I can't remember where I put it.... but, I have a MID which I can guarantee only has one missing pixel, and this only is noticible when it complains of low washer fluid level!

Yes, send it back!

TBH, its very common for the earlier type to have missing pixels.  I think its the ribbon or its associated connection between the display and its driver module

I've seen a site somewhere showing you how to repair these yourself. I can't find it with google at the moment, hopefully I have it bookmarked at home - I'll have a look this evening.

I have contacted the seller, wrote him a lovely message  ::)

I meant to fix the original one, as it better anyway, its just sometimes i get messages come up, and i aint got a clue what it says. Let alone what the time is, or how many lies to the gallon im getting.
Although i am starting to decypher alot of it, might even learn a new language out of it. lol

Thanks for all your help fellas, Much appreciated.

That is more likely to be TIDs which are easy to repair

Take it apart then, look for cracks in the metalic bits in the ribbon. Then look at making better contacts between the ribbon and the board - if squeezing the mis where the ribbon is improves it, its likely to be the connection.
