My car has one key..

and it's locked in the boot!!

The AA are on their way to retrieve it, and i'm wondering if i were to get a key cut, just the blade, would it be enough to unlock the door that's deadlocked or does the fob need programming?

i dont lose keys, but locking in the boot might happen again, and if i have a blade cut that will just open the door for me to get in the car, then that'll do!

any help appreciated! its a facelift gls, so no boot keyhole

you will be able to get in the car but the alarm will go off!! your better to just get another done, key,cut,programmed etc. ive just been through it all!

Oh No What a nightmare.

I have the same problem One Key but i always double double check before i close the boot i have the key in my pocket, but its bound to happen to me one day i know.

I might get a key cut just for this problem happening, but i dont have a car pass i know you can get them and one day ill get my backside in gear and get one.

being a GLS i dont have an alarm, which in this case is a bonus!

being a postman, i'm forever in and out of the boot so it was bound to happen, they dropped into the boot out of my shirt pocket and i put an empty post bag on them without knowing, so i just shut the boot not ever thinkin i'd be dopey enough to have left them

i have them now, and he didnt have to smash any windows either, and he's given me a number of a guy local to me who can apparently get me a key, cut it AND program it, for a hell of a lot less than vauxhall, AND he can come to my house to do it!

200 homes got their mail 2 hours late  :-[

i havent yet but i think it'll be a no, i cant afford to lose money for each day not workin!

cant be doin with gettin taken in the van, i did that the first week when waiting for my insurance to be updated, much prefer the car!!

Getting a second key isn't that expensive, and is worthwhile.  You need:

  • A blank blade (£7), cut by local key place (£3)
  • A transponder chip, from a key from Ebay
  • A remote fob (£5), from ebay (must be same make as your existing fob)

Then get it programmed to car via Tech2, which will need a carpass. The carpass is anywhere from £15 to £45, depending on how much of a robber your dealer is.

Hi, if you can get the key and fob, there is a very good independant, with a Tech2, in Widnes, his charges are very reasonable, you will need the car, the key and fob, and the car pass. If you are interested PM me for the details.

this guy i've been recommended can apparently read the key and duplicate it, would he probably require the car pass for that? i dont have one

I doubt he can duplicate it.

Carpass will be required.

 :-? Timpsons had no problem copying the code from mine when I had a replacement cut.  They did say that from 97 it was main dealer job.  Lucky me and glad you got it sorted with no damage.  :y

you could always do what i did and get two from vauxhall.only cost £180.00. OUCH!!!
