I'm a brand new member to the forum. I've been seriously in love with the Omega for many years but for one reason or another I've never actually owned one ...until now that is. Yes, I've bought a black '52 reg CD 2.6 V6 with 33k on the clock, previously owned from new by an elderly gentleman who had a rather severe physical disability. The car is a real beauty, immaculate inside and out with full service history by a well respected Vauxhall dealership. I purchased the car for what I believe to be a fair price and everyone is happy. I've had one or two very minor problems fixed and fitted it with 4 new Continental tyres. There is just one problem which I cannot find an answer to and I was hoping that some of the members might know. On early, cold mornings, when the car reaches 25 mph. (I drive very carefully) she starts vibrating through the steering wheel and I can feel it through the seat too. The whole car vibrates until 30 mph when it smoothes out again. after a few miles the vibration is no longer there whatever speed I'm doing. My first gut feeling was the universal joint being a bit tight/stiff when cold. Has anyone experienced this? if so what can I do please. :Aussipete

Welcome to the forum....

I agree that these are not your typical wheel balancing problem, but I do suggest that you have the wheel balancing checked again (and possibly swap wheels back to front) just to eliminate this option.

Not sure why it would happen when cold, suspension components are not usually temperature sensitive as such. Could have something to do with the brakes, perhaps they are binding slightly but then warm up after a short drive... but again it is not obvious.

Hope someone else will be able to shed some more light on this issue.

Had an issue like this, once I had the wheels balanced and a full wheel alignment it went away, although I still have a small vibration at about 50mph, but nothing like it was, this has been put down to a flat spot on one of my budget tyres, CEAT TORNADOES, apparently when I had the car checked out it was found that the said tyre was not as it should be and it was explained that some budget tyres do suffer with this.

Are your new tyres classed as budget ??

Is in an auto? They hold first gear for a while went cold.

I don't think it can be the tyres if it's cold related. I wonder if it's a slight misfire when cold under load.

i've been having exactly the same issue with my  2.2 @around the same speed and typically around the 2,000 rpm mark, had tried allsorts to get rid and the only thing I can say is that I cleaned all breathers and that didn't sort it, but decided to clean the throttle body , completely took it off, thorough clean out including clearing any breather holes within the throttle body and touch wood for the past few weeks it seems to be a lot better if not cured.

I occasionally get this exact same problem and have seen others similarly affected here previously,  two remedies have previously been suggested one is worn front suspension bushes and the other is to put the transmission in neutral, then apply hand brake and then stop engine before puttin into park.  this prevents the propshaft joints being torque loaded.....not my idea but I read it on here bfore and it seems to have stopped the problem for me.

Thanks for the suggestions. Although it sounds a little strange, Stranger things have happened to me in the past so I'll give these a try. I'm quite certain it isn't engine related because I've slipped her in neutral at 28 and revved the moter a little. This had no effect whatsoever. I guess it could be auto box related but I don't know. I've fitted four new Continentals at 125 notes a time and had them computer balanced so I don't think it would be wheel related either. Incidentally can someone please explain how to place a pic of my Omega with my message like others do.
