Has anyone fitted poly bushes to their front wishbones ? If so, how much and where d'ya get 'em ??
I replaced mine with pattern ones less than 4,000 miles ago, and they're knackered.

Main Stealers want £196.00 + vat...each !!!

Demon Tweeks do not have poly bushes listed for the Omega.  

Any suggestions ?

Where did you get your pattern wishbones?

They vary in quality. I had some fail in 8k miles / 4 months. They were from VSC (Ebay).

The replacements are from bypartsby and so far so good (7k miles and 6 months).

Hi, did you tighten the wishbone bolts up with the wheels on the floor and the car under load, if not they go very quickly, I speak from experience!

I was thinking of poly bushes for mine,theres a Co called Superflex might have some, or if not some that might be similar dimensions for other makes...www.superflex.co.uk

sorry to rain on your parade but AFAIK powerflex, superflex & polybush do not do bushes off the shelf for the Omega. The only way around it is to buy the polyurethane extrusion in 300 mm lengths getting the outside diameter right & cutting it to the right length on a lathe. Gonna look at this at length when i get other bitz on the car sorted so watch this space. If you know any better or find em somewhere please let us know

The bushes for the BMW either 500 or 700 series, not sure which but someone will know,  are a straight swap and much sturdier than the Vauxhall ones.

Not true, we tried sme from a 5 series M3, they were

a) fitted with an offset centre

b) No better than the later pattern Omega ones.

So, not worth the bother

personally i wouldn't recommend fitting poly bushes, they are very harsh and the ride quality will decrease.

In addition there is a possibility that they will damage the mounting points on the car. In the past i have fitted a set to a Mk2 cav, after 10,000 miles the chassis was cracking around where the bush joined the body, the reaso for this became clear when we compared the way a poly bush moves to a conventional bush.....

The poly bush was a two piece design with a stainless sleeve, it was designed to be done up so tight that all the movement was on the sleeve and not in the bush, the OE bush was designed to flex in the bush and not in the sleeve, the result was that the sleeve cut into the chassis leg as the metal was harder than the steel in the leg, it caused lots of hassle.

The Miggy bushes are different in design to the cav ones, my point is that the poly bushes are designed to move/flex in a different way, and that is not always the most effective way fro the design of the car
