Does anyone have an idiot guide to getting this interface to work; I've set usb port to Com1 and enabled it gone in to the opel software and selected vehicle etc and it comes up at the bottom of the screen something to do with communications, I presume it's trying to talk to the ecu but nothing really happens

Sounds about right. It only works on real com ports (usb adapters don't always have fully serial functionality, and those that do are processor intensive). I got it working, but only just, even on my P4 2Ghz laptop, it ran like a dog using a usb adapter

Pete, if you like I can send you the updated version I messed with - including the later USB drivers if you like.  Every chance it will be just as reluctant to work but you may be lucky.  PM me your email address if you want to give it a go.
