Are the Air Con Fans the two in front of the rad? if so what is the one behind the rad near to the engine???

are both front fans and back one supposed to be going at the same time?

Are the two front ones only supposed to work when the air con is on??

The reason i ask normal driving temp is 94-95 without heaters or air con on, with air con on temp goes up to 96-97 is this right?

There are 2 rads, the one at the front is the aircon with 2 fans, the one behind it is the cooling system rad with one fan

Rear fan will come on depending on engine temp, front fans only when aircon is on

Probably correct.....ive noticed mine runs upto 5C hotter with aircon on.....probably a result of extra load on the engine...plus hot air from aircon rad is being blown through the engine rad.

On all the V6 I have had, the front two fans start immediately the air conditioning is enabled, not sure if they ever change speed. The main cooling fan at the rear is coolant temperature dependent.

So no, they don't necessarily come on together.

Running with the air conditioning OFF increases the coolant temperature at low/traffic speeds as no fans running.

If the coolant is hot enough the main fan and the auxiliary pump by the top hose will run after shutdown to cool the heads. If the electric pump fails you may see the expansion tank overflow after shutdown, presumably localised boiling in the heads.

May not be quite the same on four cylinder cars.

The two front fans run in series at slow speed whenever the air con is on. They switch up to high speed if the air con system pressure increases above a set threshold and I think there is a temperature sensor as well, which can turn them up to full speed.

The rear fan runs at slow speed in response to high coolant temperature and at high speed in response to higher coolant temperature.

I am sure even if i haven't had my air con on, then turn the car off, the two fans at the front of the car kick on for 20 seconds or so  :-?
