Have you checked the engine mounts? My old corrado engine used to lurch off the front mounting making a small but alarming dull sort of knock when I floored it, not sure what omega engine mounts are like but worth a peek?

Jack up the front of the car on the chasis rail so that the wheel is hanging just off the road, get a large pry bar or similar, place under the wheel and lever up against the spring. Does it clonk up and down? can you see excess movement in the top mount??

Also check the front anti-roll bar bushes are not shot as particularly on driver's side the roll bar sits quite close to chassis member and could be knocking there.
